I have and love my Hanna alk checker, but once I got a new bottle of reagent and suddenly my checker read considerably higher. Honestly I trust my Red Sea test kit more than any other.

Don’t raise alk too quickly. A large change is likely harder on the corals than the lower alk.

This has definitely been an eye opener on Hanna. Always good to have backups. But the Apex did save us from hopefully a tank crash. We were running 9 Alk which if correct was actually 8. Was just hard to believe it was that big a difference.

Yes we're trying to get it on a slow increase back to 8+.

Just finished my auto water changer! Fully automated filling and mixing and pumping I just need to add salt once a week

Out of curiosity, how do you control the salinity? Does the salt get added automatically or do you add a predetermined amount of salt to a predetermined amount of water?
