Good morning. How's the quitting thing going?
Well…….let’s just say it’s going. Lol! Couple of set backs, but getting there. Thanks for asking. It’s amazing how many reasons the brain can come up with as to why one shouldn’t quit. Brain runs around in tight little circles. Stop…start…stop…start….stop. May just have to get in bed and sleep for a week.

It looks good. Wonder if I could get one of my encrusting Monti’s to do that. Here are my two candidates. It would be easy to break a piece off the JF Frankie’s Hot Pink Rim. It’s already growing off it’s rock a bit. The Rainbow is still pretty stuck to its rock.

the rainbow is more likely to just encrust, the pink rim is going to shelf out some. I have rainbow monti growing all over the place but haven't tried growing it on the vertical glass. I haven't done it with a monti other than caps i expected to create shelves. I have a acropora efflo growing on the back glass of my display, a cyphastria growing on the front glass (accident that i just never corrected) of one of my other tanks i don't maintain very well, and a favia growing up one of the corners of my frag tank. have some monti palawanensis that are creeping up the front glass of my display i need to do something about but its hard to reach.

I know the feeling. I only smoked for 3.5 yrs. Took 3 tries though and had weird cig cravings at odd times for another ten. Been quit for 35 yrs. So yeah you can do it! Hang in there!

Also have a couple of Stylocoeniella that I could frag some pieces off the ledge they are on.

Yeah, seems little tougher this time than it was 35 years ago. If I can’t get through the cold Turkey then I’ll just slap a small patch on for a couple of weeks to remove the initial detox bite and then slowly reduce the patch to nothing. As they say, many ways to skin that rabbit.

I need an explanation in this set up. My mushrooms are never happy.
This is the PNW shrooms box which I put some crushed coral as a base. I normally have it to the side under a power head so it gets some movement. I'm currently thinking about doing some tank landscaping and moving it to the back side.

I was going to poll this group and ask if I should pull a huge colony of red Montipora to make space. It eats a huge corner of my tank and is pretty basic. I know I can grow a better looking monti.

I have a cyphastrea growing on the back and a psamaccora. Bought a looney tunes stylocionella to encrust the back too, just haven't gotten around to mounting it.

Anyone know, can you bleach a NPS coral, specifically a dendro. I had one in full shade and moved it to the light last night, going to watch it today but was just curious if I should even be concerned.

Quitting smoking is easy, I’ve done it hundreds of times - Mark Twain

I’ve been through almost every form of nicotine, cigars to cigarettes to pipe tobacco to vaping and now on the nicotine pouches. Dentist said that pouches aren’t hurting my gums or anything so that makes it harder to quit.

I feel you on the brain making excuses thing. I remember giving up because every single thing in life isn’t going exactly perfect. As if that’s possible. “Now’s not a good time. I’ll do it tomorrow”.

I was a huge advocate for vaping and still am to some extent. The media ran with some BS data linking lung illnesses from black market vitamin E THC cartridges and applied it to all vaping products. I had an interaction once with someone while I was vaping. This person was about 5’7” 375 lbs, chain smoking cigs, eating a whole pizza and drinking 64 oz of Dr Pepper this day. Saw me vaping and said you know those things will kill you?!

After about 6 months off vaping, I can say for sure that I can smell better and can breathe better. I get winded a lot less easily. I have seen many 30+ year smokers switch to vaping and quit that within a few months and never go back to nicotine so as a method to quit smoking, I think it is great. I do think it’s maybe not a great life long habit though.

Not knocking anyone who smokes, but since I'm newer to the hobby, I just don't understand the logistics of it. How does smoke not land on the water and kill everything or the chemicals on your hands enter the water while doing maintenance.

I used to fix computers and people that smoked when they brought them in, the fans would be all clogged.

Oh tell me about it, it's horrible in computers! Mixed with dust and dog hair, I want to throw up sometimes!

It gets in the aquarium no doubt, filtration removes some of it. I don't smoke but my parents did growing up. It gets on everything. They quit several times, started again, luckily only outside. But after years their house still has a bit of that odor.

Not sure if was easier or harder, but went cold turkey each time. Last time it was the absolute no brained as my now wife allergic to some degree and has a history of asthma
