just read thru the tank transfer back and forth. Transfer could be done in one go, but it really depends on size I guess. I was able to move from a 30 to a 60 in a few hours but going much larger could be more difficult. Going from 180 to 220 adds 334 lbs in water weight alone plus the added rock and sand. I have my 90, 60 and 22 fairly close to each other spatially on the third floor but admittedly it’s a lot less than 220 tank. So my thoughts are a cautious “yes” on a first floor.

What size tank do you guys think a first floor can hold. I’ve thought about upgrading to a 180 or 220 but worry about the weight
Depends which way yourr floor joists are running. It you are only sitting parallel on 1 or 2 joists you will need to shore it up. If you are perpendicular across several joists you will be good for the most part. Maybe put blocking between the joists directly under where the frame is bearing on the ground.

I did it! I successfully sat out an entire SBB Auction/Sale. I do have some self control after all. I was also pretty busy so that helps. Next sale I’m going after a tiger/Goldilocks and I really want to replace that big Millie that RTNed. I liked that piece a lot. Im sure I’ll find some other stuff too though lol.
Surprisingly i made it too. It was rough and i was close to bidding a few times but the prices that some of those pieces went for coupled with the fact that i have pretty much zero place to put anything else helped me keep it under control lol. Instead i bought a flame angel, geometric pygmy hawkfish, yellow coris wrasse and a lawnmower blenny. I know i know im taking a big chance getting yet another “reef safe with caution” fish, but i think i figured out why my fish ate my strats and other zoas. Im using Avast auto feeders and i filled them full before i left on my trip. I mixed too much food up for one of the feeders so I crammed it in so it would all fit and that caused the food to get stuck above the auger that dispenses food. I noticed this a few days after i got back when i opened the top of the drum and food was still solidly at the top. I poked it with my finger and it all dropped down filling the void that the auger created. Guess i cant blame the fish since i was basically starving them.

I have a 125g glass tank now. Upgrading it to a 220g... because weight is a concern for me... I opted acrylic. It's way lighter. A glass cages with the euro bracing etc and like 3/4" glass 72" x 24" was around 600lbs. Acrylic is at like 200 so saving me 400lbs. I'm placing in front of a load bearing wall, but running parallel joists.

Number 4 here. That was tough cause there were some I really wanted. My right index finger is still sore from hitting it with my hammer To keep it off the button. My tank modifications will be finished and settled in by next month and ready for new sticks.

This is what I was thinking. It's slightly larger than 18" in depth. Specifically what sucks about 18" depth?
Width I think he's talking about. It's nicer to have 24" front to back than 18". Still 24" deep I believe is what he meant. Then again, I'm wrong a lot haha

@Kasrift

72x18x21 are dimensions. Length x width x height. The refer to the 18" as depth..front to back. Its just not enough. If your going 6 feet go 180 for the 24" front to back. If you just want the 125 gallons go for a 48x24x25. Especially if there are internal overflows on the 125 you lose basically a foot and a half in length. You can aquascape much better in at least 24" front to back...18" is tight.
