Oh great Acro guru, @billyocean , I’ve decided to try the regime you talked about and ordered the special potions from BRS

Just go slow in everything and you should be good. As stated before, there was good color and growth with just water changes and proper alk, cal, mag, p04 n03. Those extras were just to experiment for a little extra boost.

Sounds good, i know you’ve posted somewhere what your levels were on those, but could you send them to me as a baseline?

I’m just curious… how long did it take you to figure out acros? Like did you struggle for awhile or have success pretty quickly?
I've lost a good bit of things through the last year and several months or so...more so for the first 6 months. I was hesitant to even try anything else since I stopped acropower, phyto, ab+. The system just seems to run a lot "cleaner" now but I still have hurdles...and that won't ever stop with acros.

He doesn’t test. He just wakes up every morning and takes a big smell of the water and says “this is acceptable”.

By the way, the web based settings adjuster for the ReeFi is a a royal pain. Just when I think I got it in order ….I really wish it had native app control. But the light is wonderful when it works correctly, which is most of the time.

@billyocean I read the entire Tenuis Hoarder thread and my acros still don’t look like this. What gives?
Also, try doing what the thread says... Reading the thread is great! I've read all kinds of article about breeding rabbits and hunting bears and riding motorcycles and stuff but I've never done them. Gotta put those things into practice sir!

But reading the thread was a good start.

What it kills other stuff? I thought it just makes the coral taste bad. I started using flatworm atop and have two dragonettes
I have no idea. I just assume it kills micro crustaceans with that kind of name.

I test something daily...alk almost everyday bc of the big orders I get. As soon as I get it dialed in..here comes another order and an adjustment period.

I get to test my alk tomorrow! It actually makes me excited, I'll be home in the evening from Washington state. I hope it didn't dip too bad with the new additions, 7.5 on the money before I left, but added 9 new acros, one Goni, and a torch. Shrooms too but they don't consume alk.

@steveschuerger
Alk 8ish-8.4ish
Mag 1400-1500
Cal 420-450ish
P04 .08ish-.12ish
N03 14-20
Potassium 400ish-440ish varies a bit

Alk consumption is the biggest moving part for me. When it's dialed in I'm at a steady number and leave it there. When adding 20-30 acros demand goes up immediately...then stalls pretty quick..then needs to be readjusted as demand goes up because they have settled in. For me..it takes about a month or so to get alk dialed in right after I get an order...hence the constant testing.

Those things are what have worked for me so far since I've added. I'm not 100% on the benefits although it seems like there are. Make no mistake, attentiveness and elbow grease are the biggest factors.
I think elbow grease is true. I know we all know @billyocean is the SBB hype man, but there are quite a few of us finding success. That is what I love about the group is bouncing ideas and finding what works for some and maybe not others.

Just don't want to put too much pressure on Ryan and there are others that are veritable knowledge books on this too in this core group.

Which leads me to my next question, how long have you all been doing this? Ryan went from zoas to acros but I don't even know when you started reefing, I think @wes84 and I are about the same as my tank got wet oct 2021. Statelinereefers seems like an OG and Steve has tons of fresh and salt tanks.
