Does the tank go to the front and back sides. If not then I am not sure that the top won't bow down with the weight. I used 1x4's under the top frame for extra bracing but they are directly under where the bottom rim of the tank will sit on the top frame. Below is the inside frame of my stand which is the actual stand that holds up the tank. The top frame is 2x4's but the 1x4's directly under them is for support of the tank and stability along with the ones at the bottom. The bottom of the inside frame will hold some water so if there is a minor leak it is designed to channel water from the leak down into the bottom where there is now leak detectors to alert for the leak before it spills out onto the floor. That is what the small outer trim is for around the top. The 12 channels in the top frame are also for channeling the water under the tank and to the bottom of the stand. This photo is from the back side. The board is on the back of the front is for modules for the controller. Which was originally a Digital Aquatics RKE.

Just throwing up a pic. Maybe 2. Who knows of our downsized set up. And for the love of God I can't have any success inside that box of water!

Thanks bud, no it will not bow, it's not the first stand I did. I do not know where the concept of over engineering and making stands ready for the apocalypse came from :)

I built my first stand for my 125 upstairs way over-engineered.. 2x6 and 1/2 plywood all enclosed.. way too heavy, fast forward a year, and a new addition to the reef family. 200G in the basement now and I didn't go big on this one and when I was filling I wished I had... too many creaks...lol all is good and both stands are firm. The price I was quoted for a pre-made stand was nuts. even during covid lumber prices made it still cheaper to build my own.View attachment 3115647View attachment 3115648
I wasn't happy with my baby sump

It was kind of funny I asked the wife to pick it up the 300g model20230422_173854.jpg for me I didn't get the one I originally ordered cuz 300 gallons wouldn't fit in her truck.lol

First attempt, and quite unimaginative I am afraid....

Maybe I'll finish it off with a different color top, something like a white finish that leave a small trim of white around the rimless tank.

I've built three stands over the last 16 years. Unfortunately, digital cameras weren't the same quality back in 2007. The big one was for a 210 gallon with no center brace, using plans from the internet. The half cylinder 90gal was just a reimagined version of the stock stand.

20 gallon long mixed reef tank! I’ve built a few stands in the past, I love being able to make a stand to suit my needs for a cost friendly budget!
