This pic has several of my favorites. The sump, the stand itself, the tank it’s sitting under had a DIY overflow that I installed. The skimmer was a kit I built (and still have). Then there is the …height adjuster…

I’ll play. I built this acrylic lid. It was only 1/4” thick so in anticipation of it bending, I built it symmetrically so I could just flip it over.

IMG_4473.jpeg

IMG_4475.jpeg

I also built the light mount out of 1/2” tempered Starphire glass. It has a piano hinge along the top edge that allows it to flip up out of the way.

IMG_4179.jpeg

IMG_4030.jpeg

I made the stand out of walnut plywood with 2”x4” reinforcements.
IMG_2164.jpeg

The door was more of a novelty. It’s cool but I would take it off any time I had to do any major maintenance.
IMG_2165.jpeg

I also made the sump.

Just refrigerated liquid food feeder, but my next project is a set of "hanging baskets" for macroalgae using clear plastic rods and fishing line connected to drilled pieces of rubble to keep the macros away from the urchin and turbos.

The door on the stand is pretty neat. Haven't seen a door like that before!

I've built lots of DIY stuff for my reef system:

1) Auto Frozen Food Feeder
2017-01-25 14.50.50.jpg

2) Refrigerated Dosing System

CE Doser Fridge - First Draft 7.jpg

3) Optical Float Sensors - From 2016 - Before offerred by Neptune
o2many - Triton Optical Float Switch 2017-06-09 14.20.8.jpg

4) Dual RO-DI System 300gpd - Monitors TDS going in, Coming Out, Flow Rates, and Alarms when output TDS gets too high.

2 - Dual TDS Meter Panel w-Flow - Jul28.jpg

5) Apex Board for Project Tank - Circa 2017

Michael Kohanoff Apex Board 3_sml.jpg

6) RO DI Controller for 4k GPD System - Monitors TDS levels at Incoming Line, After Pre-Fillet, After RO, After DI - Alarm capable for each of the testing spots. (2017)

o2many - RO Controller Gen 1 2017-07-19 18.53.5.jpg

7) Built for a Friend who wanted an RO/DI controller for his 1200g freshwater tank
RO System for Joe.mp4.Still001.jpg

8) Dosing container for Triton Project

I built one of these well over 30 years ago! Man-o-man did I miss out...lol. I needed one a while back to catch a couple fish, and I could not find my old one. When you have a lot of rock, it's so hard to catch anything in your tank.. I could not find mine, ( I guess I must have loaned it to someone again ) With that being said I built another one. And it works absolutely perfect. Total cost well under $10 bucks and anyone can make one in less than 30 mins.

Dollar Store plastic Jar $1.00 ---- They did not have a clear one when I went in. So I used a pink one.. IT DOE'S NOT EFFECT IT IN ANY WAY.. lol

Foam pipe insulation $6.00 ---- Ask a friend if they have any.. Or a plumbing contractor will just give you 16 inch chunk and then make three and loan them out...gezzzzz. Or buy a new bag for $6.00 Home Depot.

Neodymium Magnets $1.97 (each CMS magnets plastic coated) ---- Any magnet will work don't be fooled, just find some. 2nd hand store via garage sales, children's toys, Salvation Army or the Goodwill. It really doesn't take much of a magnet at all. But you need two...! One inside the tank glued to the jar and one outside on the yank string.

10ft String Free ---- 10lb braided fishing line with wood handle, white package string, old shoe lace- Nike's are the fastest.... A glue gun or super glue to glue foam to plastic jar and the magnet on the INSIDE of the jar.

I made a jig out of old scrape wood to cut the foam pretty straight I might add but scissors will work just fine. Works perfect 1000% I should have made a better looking one, and posted it here. I will soon but this works like, like a dream come true... Bait the inside of the jar and get ready to yank the string. Again for well under $10 bucks. You can make one for under $5.00 if you have any of these items at all. Enjoy it and use it... I just had to share this for all. Fellow reefers Happy Fishing!

You had me with #2,#4 and then 18. What are the LCD and board for #4?

#4 is an RO/DI Monitoring System. It tracksthe TDS of the incoming water, after the prefilters, after the membrane, after the DI and in a storage barrell. It tracks the quantity of water produced - in gallons. It sets off alarms for a TDS setpoint on 2 of the stages. It also sets off an alarm after so many gallons. And it keeps track at the gallons per minute of production.

I have built about 5 of these for friends and they work great.
