How's the alk this morning @Thuan
I know this was like 12 hours ago and you weren't talking to me but im going to tell you about my alk now and you're going to like it.

Since I switched to AFR from soda ash, the dosing instructions told me to add about 3 ml a day as a starting point. After 2 days, I tested and my alk went from about 8.0 to 10.0 but my mag and calcium are a little low. So ive got it shut off until water change, Ill try maybe 1.5 ml a day next time. I was dosing 2 ml of soda ash and it was working perfectly for my alk. Its weird that it shot up so fast but didn't affect my calcium or magnesium with AFR.

OK. Just test alk before lights off at 8pm. It's 8.0. 1st reading at 6:40am was 8.0; 2nd reading at 12:40pm was 7.9. And last reading now at 7:40pm was at 8.0
I like to keep in a bit lower, so I'll take out one of the dosage.
Wow @billyocean knows how to set up a dosing schedule. Well done!

I just checked everything on both tanks, spot on where I want them. AFR is working perfectly after I got it dialed in except for my magnesium dropping a bit. Easy fix and it moves slowly.

Unfortunately my nitrates and phosphates are running a bit low. I dose bacto balance so I'll just cut back on it.

Busy thread this morning. I'm just settling into a busy day in the home office for once.

Had a minor heartbreak last night when I returned and saw my space ghost was knocked off the plug (plug still in the locking rack). Spent an hour looking for it, it was wedged in the rock below. I don't know how long it was there, but it was still alive. Reglued it and checked on it after lights out with a blue light and it still fluoresces.
Just checked mine with a UV light… no fluorescence. :disappointed-face:

"Jack of all trades and master of none"

I will toot my own horn and say we ran a crew that would Pepsi challenge the best any day
That saying has more worth than people give it credit for.

I liken it too be self sufficient in a way. If your car breaks you fix it. Lawnmower, plumbing, electric, yard work. Do you own a ladder, tools, multimeter. Kids power wheels break, you fix it rather than chucking it to the curb. Kids break the slats on the bed from jumping, you repair it.

If you don't have the exact parts, how else can it be fixed(not just duct tape.)

I'd rather do it myself than hire someone, if possible. But that's me.

Now that is some fine work. I bet you get irked by 1/64th constantly.
Depends really...I like to be within a 1/32 to 1/16 max most of the time. With overlay doors you have adjustment and play. Ideally it's spot on but some fudge is there if needed. If it's inlay doors then a 1/64 is pushing it.

Growing up poor there is a lot of improvising and "making it work with what I have because I can't afford replacement parts" mentally.

A matter of fact recently I had to repair front locking hubs on my truck. Instead of paying nearly $1000 in parts, I ended up just plugging the vacuum line and changing my diff fluid to a heavier weight. (Thanks Ford for the wonderful idea of vacuum locking hubs actuator)
