that’s funny i recently just added 2 peppermints for a some aptasia i found they’re doing well so far and cleaning up

One reason I'll avoid them. Heard they are evil. Some are super pretty, but not very good neighbors to other fish.

Yeah, this neon was really neat looking, but it acted like it was on crystal meth all the time. darting its eyes all over, charging into the other fish, and nipping them. Garth the yellow Goby is just chilling on the sand bed now in relief with a small piece of fin gone. He's spent most of his time the last few days either sucked to the overflow, in the overflow, or sucked to the powerhead guard.

Alright, giving all for reef a shot now, the soda ash has been amazing so far and ive kept my alkalinity from swinging but im already dosing mag and now I need to start dosing calcium as well.

Alright, giving all for reef a shot now, the soda ash has been amazing so far and ive kept my alkalinity from swinging but im already dosing mag and now I need to start dosing calcium as well.

It takes awhile for the AFR to kick in. You'll probably have to keep dosing your other stuff for a few days. The Alk and calcium is a Formate which has to broken down by bacteria first.

Also watch your nitrates and phosphates, it's like a very mild form of carbon dosing too. Noticed mine dropped when I started using it.

I have 2 orchid dottybacks and other than purple flashes darting, some digging, they don't do anything negative. I know they are not as fancy as other dottybacks but much more mild mannered.

Well my newest design is being tested, I like it better, the large holes are the output so it doesn't restrict it. I may shrink those down a bit because I don't notice any difference between them and my older style. But the intake side is much smaller. But it also stands off the gyre a few mm so it can draw water in from more sides, creates less delta P issues.
