But yeah, you'll want a 3d printed one... because 53 bucks is too much for a nem guard.

Do you know if a gyre has some kind of guard? if so, are you able to print one
I have printed some for mine, and they work pretty well. But I'm in the process of printing out some with a smaller spacing since I released my nem.

Supposedly the scp 180 can push 9200 gph. I would be satisfied if it could really push 7000 gph. The icecap 4ks don't have enough backbone for what I need

Let me know how well it works
Are you wanting them to keep nems out? Or just fish and snails, The ones I am using now work great except for the tiniest dwarf ceriths.

I'm also printing out some guards for my other power heads. Jebao Nero knock offs and the mow and sow models.

That reminds me, the Nero guards I printed for @steveschuerger we're not an exact fit on my jebao knock off. Just a tiny bit difference. But they are also a tight fitting guard. Other guards fit okay. So some would work and some wouldn't.

I don't have snails that small and all my fish are big. It's for the nems

Cheap fix for that is to use a sacrificial strip printed into the inside diameter. It'll crush on first fit and stay snug. In your slicer call it a .5mm support.

Yeah give me a few days and see what I can come up with. I'm trying to find a good balance between protecting the intake without reducing the output.

The more I mess with it and with the nems who are like nothing more than a puddle of jello. I keep thinking of that poor crab that got sucked into the pipe.
