Full tank shot. Innovative Marine 30l 155E1C91-7343-441E-BAAB-5EE65DBB8E10.jpeg

We have the same tank! How do you like the spin stream nozzles? Flow is a bit tricky to dial in on this tank, and I’ve been considering getting some of those.

E. Teamwork and bad influences (in the good way) on one another. He’s the brains behind the tank set up and does the hard work. He did all the plumbing and made the tank as little maintenance as possible by running automatic dosing, automatic daily water changes etc all from the garage to the tank. I made the rock sculptures, help with bigger water changes, daily glass cleaning, etc. I pick out the majority of the fish and coral, but never argue him when his eyes light up over some crazy expensive blasto etc.

We are about 5 months in on our current tank (we already want to go bigger), but are now fighting a cyano outbreak. My tank is not giving me the tranquil feels at the moment! After about 6 weeks of trying all the natural ways of fighting it, I’m leaving it up to him if we throw in the towel and chemiclean. We had this happen with our last tank as well, but never before that. I am starting to believe it is almost an inevitable dry rock, dry sand problem.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. It's nice to have a partner who is so involved and hopefully helpful :)

You should look in to adding beneficial bacteria to your system. I purchased rock rubble from aquabiomics a while back and that’s when I really noticed the system start to stabilize. I see it’s out of stock now but stalk their website for availability!!!
Thank you! I’ve been using Microbacter7. I appreciate the recommendation and I’ll keep an eye out for availability! I’ve also been noticing that we have some beautiful pink and purple coraline really taking off as well. Gives me hope of that smooth sailing that we usually hit around the 1 year mark.

Your hobby is stinking up MY HOUSE. When you die, I'm selling everything THAT DAY for a 1 dollar on Craigslist...

OK for today's meaningful post....
A poll ohhhhh fun.

Does your "other":
A. Deal with your hobby because it gets you out of their hair for a few hours.
B. Support you but stays at arms length by disappearing during tank maintenance and with comments like oh that's pretty.
C. Knows names and preferences of tank and coral and why you can't have certain ones.
D. Has their own tank.
E. Other explain.

Mine is a B. He will go to swaps with me for moral support. He also helps with heavy lifting but other than that he has his own thing.
Little bit of A and B.

She likes to ridicule me and tell her friends that I’m taking care of my “pet rocks” lol.

Funny enough, my old man is my biggest supporter. He likes to buy stuff to put in my tank so that he can come and look at it when he wants without having to take care of anything haha. It’s a pretty sweet deal.

@Vivid Creative Aquatics has RFG (Random Flow Generator) nozzles. Check them out! @ReefStache has them on his new tank. I use them on both my freshwater and saltwater tanks and love them!

I’ve been looking at those too! Haven’t been able to really make up my mind on those vs the IM spin streams. The vivid creative is interesting to me because it doesn’t have the same moving parts as the IM nozzles, so in theory, less can go wrong with them.

EDITED . ... c'mon folks, mostly humor
It's funny because I went to a garage sale and the lady told us that her husband died. She sold a nearly brand new bass boat for $5K just to make her husband roll over in his grave. I was an hour late.

Thank you! It’s all part of the game of reefing and I’m probably the lesser of the helpers! He does the hard work and I mostly make things pretty. We joke that our hobby is hobbies! The list is long and I know things don’t just happen overnight. Our other hobby right now is a restomod on a 1986 CJ7. He does the work. I hand him the tools, picked out the color, wheels and am currently picking out the seats, etc. If only it would be ready in time to head to the show in Orlando!

Has 0 input, care, and no say over what I do with all my tanks or how many I get.
