I'm looking to move from filter socks to filter floss and/or sponges, etc for my 20g red sea max nano.
I have a 3d printed tube to replace where the filter sock goes (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1515038156/filter-upgrade-kit-for-red-sea-max-nano).
I've installed the baffle and it seems to be working well (skimmer seems more consistent, less crud floating in return compartment). I am still running red sea filter sock until I figure out what to put in the replacement tube.
Current plan is to cut up squares of filter floss for the bottom and some sponge for the top and keep running the existing red sea sponge on the top.
Some pics, etc in other thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/b...d-sea-max-nano-peninsula.990544/post-11962501

Should I put anything at the bottom other than cut up squares of filter floss? Would 2 layers of coarse sponge at the top be sufficient? Where does the "silencer" square w/ holes go?
Any other considerations or recommendations?

I think you can just add filter floss - (which is what I do) - I have a similar product
