Hi guys. I seem to have a problem with my red sea max nano. The water from the display doesn't seem to be running through the filter sock compartment (now has filter floss). I am new to this and have had it set up around 3-4 weeks. It was definitely running through it to start with and the only thing I have changed is the protein skimmer adjuster. It says in the instructions to set the adjuster to the lowest point but unless mine is at the top it does nothing. At the minute water just seems to run from the skimmer back into the filter sock compartment. Is this a skimmer problem? It was used so I didn't buy it new. I have attached a picture. You can see that water isn't running from the display into the filter floss and how high the skimmer adjuster has to be up for any foam to be produced.

Here is a picture of someone else and you can see water running from the display into the filter and the skimmer adjuster at the bottom but producing foam. I pushed my skimmer adjust to the bottom this morning and the foam stops but water still didn't run into the filter floss. Wondering If the display water level is too low actually? It doesnt look any lower than it has been and I use an Ato.

It sounds like there might be a flow issue between the display and the filter sock compartment. One possibility is that the protein skimmer settings could be impacting the flow, especially if it was working fine initially. You might want to check the water level and ensure the skimmer is set up properly. If the water is bypassing the filter floss, it could be due to a blockage or improper water flow adjustment. Cleaning the skimmer and adjusting it to find the optimal setting might help.

Thanks for reply. I think I will switch the skimmer off and see if it makes a difference and if it does I will look into how to clean it and try work out how to adjust it properly.
