I'm a college professor. I teach archaeology and dig very precise holes in the ground during the summer.
I had a Grand Uncle who did that, going to his home was better than going to any museum. His Stone House was falling apart, except for the stone part.

Icu doctor and researcher on hospital acquired infections
There are quite a few similarities with modern reefing and icu medicine: Maintaining acid base balance, attention to detail and the love for learning new things.

What’s up Reefers!
We can’t all be Marine Biologists or Oceanographers, our lives take us on different paths sometimes. I’m a Journeyman Millwright of 20 years, basically an industrial mechanic. My super power is the ability to look at mechanical things that fail or need servicing, and figure out how to do so.

This ability and training allows me to diagnose and rectify many mechanical issues with reef tanks. I am also conditioned to perform regular maintenance routines on my tanks as well.

So my question to you is, what is YOUR profession, and how does it help you with reefing? :thinking-face:

Pathologist. I brought a microscope home to do “work from home.” Really I just use it to make sure each batch of phytoplankton hasn’t gotten contaminated with something else—before this, I was unknowingly dosing a pure culture of some kind of green algae for a whole week .

30 years at the USPS!!! Letter Carrier. Retired for the past 4 plus years.
Met a whole lot of great folks, customers and definitely fellow employees. Likewise, interacting with our great reefing community reminds me a lot of the USPS.
