I do like the anemone however it appears that it will outgrow the space I have in the aquarium to quickly. I put it up for sale locally.
I was hoping that the clown fish would take a liking to it,they will need to swim behind the structure. Unfortunately not the case.

A local reefer stopped by to pick up the anemone. Wow first time trying to get one off a rock. A friend suggested using a turkey baster. The baster, ice and 40 minutes of gentle persuasion finally it detached.

Neil nice meeting you, take care of that anemone. I hope your clown fish will call it home!

Area circled extended all the way to the green Pearl berry.

it’s a pretty nice chunk, have to sell locally. Pm if you are in metro Detroit and may be interested.

Well pictures are going to have to wait a bit… weather is finally breaking here in Michigan and we are having fantastic weekend. I did meet up with a fellow reefer and swapped a few corals. I received a nice size stylophora, it looks like it has been in the aquarium since day one. Trying to add a few different items for the “Bommie” look. Hopefully these will do well on the lower areas of the rock work.

For the burning banana interest…
Will have to go back in and look at when I put a frag in. It seems to be doing well. I have more light this time around. (*Looks like it is in the 6 month picture-I would guess it is about 9 months)
Even in the areas that are shaded I see no brown in color. Browning may be an indicator of something other than light.

a couple quick photos.

Some of thE “frags” on the bottom are no longer “frags. I posted all for 50.00 locally just to get them off the bottom.

A local hobbyist will pick them up on the weekend.
After finding Alk low, I decided to switch from the Kalk reactor to just dosing Kalkwasser straight from a bucket.
It took a bit to get close to target range, been trying to find another versa doser so that I can set it up to supplement the Kalkwasser, I think I may soon be beyond Kalk only. I have added vinegar to Kalk now to boost the saturation.
Once I am able to obtain a new doser I may try the 1 part as a supplement to make sure Alk is at target. Tough to get a hold of the dosers…

All still seems to be going well, we had a long weekend away and I was hoping that all was dialed in to prevent the Alk from dropping while away. It is slightly lower than I like but still good.

again a couple quick iPhone photos..

Crazy, I was just on one of the sites looking at the Versa again and it appeared they had a few in stock so I placed an order for one. When I went to my mail box to see the confirmation. I seen that minutes before a notice was sent that they were back in stock.

wow not sure how I lucked out

This will be great, we have a vacation scheduled soon and the last thing I want is to worry about Alk drop. I have to make sure everything is automated to cover 10 days away. This will be a challenge to say the least.

Had taken these to show where the frags came from. So I will toss them up. From frags to decent colonies in about 14 months

and… all have been fragged a few times, due to growing into other coral. Especially that lemon lime acro.

it is near my favorite Oregon tort, so I continue to trim as either the tort or lemon acro gets close. I have to cut yet another piece

Not neglecting but summer has brought on other items to attend to.

Had to get my arms in to trim coral and pull out some of the stubborn wire type algae that continues to grow.
Started to supplement with All for reef, in addition to the Saturated Kalkwasser.

There is some slight discoloration in some of the tips on the Lemon Lime acro. I checked parameters and noticed Nitrates were showing up around 2ppm. Not sure if that is the cause, I am manually dosing to bring up Nitrates a little to see if that may be the culprit.

However all seems to be doing well. During cleaning, it seems like I always end up breaking a coral here and there. A couple quick iPhone photos…

The tank survived me being on vacation for 10 days. I ended up putting on another doser with allforreef since the kalkwasser alone was not keeping up.
I started a couple of weeks beforehand and kept upping the dose as it was not keeping up. The day before vacation I realized that I never really had the doser set to run. I scrambled and left it to dose an amount that I "guessed” from manual additions. Luckily when I returned the Alk was perfect at 8.5

(high range of target)

i since have had to lower

one day I really have to spend time taking nice photos.

The tank is really looking mature. Although it needs a good cleanup and I have to figure out how to get rid of a few aptasia now.

Recently my Brother left the hobby. He just brought over his equipment. 12X24" aquarium and an older Maxspect 100watt light. He recently had the light rebuilt. All stuff free to me...

I built a 2x4 stand to hold the tank just over my sump in the basement. I routed the overflow from the main tank to supply the new aquarium and then routed the overflow to go into the original sump. Now I have a place to hold my cuttings as I have to clip. I have the Maxspect light set to run during the night when the aquarium light is off.

I am hoping that I can store the cut frags in this tank until I can get someone to come pick up. I have a few frags in there to see how they hold up under the Maxspect light.

I did have another idea... Perhaps set up the tank with only old school corals I like ;)
Oregon Tort, Leng Sy Cap, Pocillapora eyedoxi, fiji leather and maybe even some purple people eater palys. I think grown out would be a pretty cool nano...
