Placed an order with Reef Beauties yesterday, today they contacted me saying the fish I purchased are not in stock and should be in stock in the coming week with their next shipment. I asked why they were for sale if they didn't actually have them. They then mentioned that they actually have the fish I ordered in stock but are not eating and they said twice that they could send those fish without any kind of guarantee since they are not healthy. What a joke. That does not sound like the "absolute best customer service you will find among all online fish stores".

Well, they have them but don't want to send them until eating.

They are only asking if you want them bad enough, they will send but because they are not eating, no warrenty.

Sounds like great customer service to me.
I never said I wanted them right now, I just asked why they were for sale if they don't actually have them. I just don't like buying IOU's

I can promise you that Reef Beauties has amazing customer service. You're not going to find very many places with cheaper prices. They kept me in the loop with everything until my fish I ordered shipped.

Sounds to me like you are a bit impatient and just want fish NOW. Might be wise to just go some where else if that is the case.

Sounds to me like you are a bit impatient and just want fish NOW. Might be wise to just go some where else if that is the case.
I mean getting offered unhealthy fish without a guarantee is pretty tempting. Might want to go hop on that before they sell out.

It really just begs the question, why didn’t they just tell you the truth out of the gate? Then, why would they rescind their guarantee AFTER payment?

It’s such a different explanation between the two, and I personally would have understood and appreciated the context of them delaying the shipment to send me healthier fish. Now, they just look like liars who don’t honor their policies.

Also to note: I never asked them for anything expedited, I merely was curious why the fish were listed on the website as in stock when they actually weren't. People here are trying to draw conclusions that are just not true. The part that really caught me off guard was the fact that they were trying to send me unhealthy fish with absolutely no guarantee.

They literally gave you the choice to wait and get the fish when they are healthy with a guarantee or take them NOW the way they are without one.

Also... not sure if you've ever worked any place that does inventory? Mistakes do happen... pretty sure it's easy to miss and not take it off the site if they sell out.

You're really grasping at things. Either ask for a refund and move on.. or wait for a healthy fish.

They aren't TRYING to send you unhealthy fish with no guarantee. They are saying if that's what's going to make you happy then they will send you them.

No, they were trying to send me the fish, they asked me twice if they could send the fish that were not eating.

Might want to rephrase your first post then...that is not what you said at all.

That's understandable but would you ever take away your guarantee and offer a consumer fish that are unhealthy? If they tried to explain that the only fish they had were unhealthy and they could offer a 2-4 week guarantee and half price, then I'd be fine with that. Offering unhealthy fish with no gurantee for full price is just a joke and rude to even waste both of our time.

From what I'm seeing, it sounds like they first said "we're going to delay shipping in order to send you healthy ones", and then said, after that, "we could send you the unhealthy ones if you want fish now". Seems pretty reasonable. All you have to do in order to get healthy fish and a guarantee is wait a little.

I believe we'd just cancel the item off of the order.

Maybe if it was something super special we'd ask if they wanted to wait to see if it improved.

Also, after I told them it is a joke to offer me unhealthy fish with no guarantee they cancelled the order.

Would you have preferred they just fulfilled your order with the ones that aren't eating, and never contacted you at all?
Yeah, honestly because then they'd still have the guarantee on them. They tried to finesse their way out of their own guarantee. I'm sure my tank is a whole heck of a lot cleaner and healthier than whatever tank they're currently in.
