So long as you properly seal both ends that get cut, sounds like a great plan.

mind if I PM you when I start on that project. I have almost no experience with wood working or anything similar and I recall that’s one of your areas of expertise

I go bare feet as much as I can. If I have to wear shoes I wear sandals up until it hits low 40s. So no judgment here.

is your stand wood or is that the exterior wrap? I’m half considering using a laminate flooring for the wrap because most are pretty easy to fit together and fairly durable
The stand is wood (2x4’s) and the exterior is some kind of a faux wood sheeting. I need to post a pic of the interior of the stand still, really.

Heck with the price of wood nowadays you’d be better off with steel..or platinum. We worked in a cabinet shop for a few years and we can send ya some pointers. Or make you a stand lol. Send it with the pupper.

Man, did P.O.T.O. deliver! Replacement torch came on Wednesday (along with the tube anemone I also got), and both were acclimated and put into the tank. Torch looked wayyyy better when it got here than the last one, so I was already ecstatic! Huge shoutout to Kenny and everyone at P.O.T.O. too! This was my first time ordering and despite the frustration of losing the original torch (my luck), the experience was overall a great one. They have excellent customer service, drop-dead-gorgeous coral, and one of the best guarantees I have seen. Definitely can’t wait to jump in on another sale.

There is a cerianthus in that bag, I swear, you can see it’s adorable little truffula tree top peeking out!

And acclimating.

I placed the torch on my frag rack again (same location as the last one), and the tube anemone went under my biggest arch. It seemed to adjust quickly, and attached itself, then opened shortly after.

Pretty quickly after this pic was taken the Diamond Goby and my Niger Trigger both tried to take a bite out of it. The Trigger took off, but the Goby clearly got hit harder (it does have a huge mouth), and went crazy trying to get the “taste” out. It was obviously distressing, because it wouldn’t sift sand for quite a while afterwards.

The next morning (Thursday) I found the tube buried by sand from the goby, and when I uncovered it, it was limp and no longer attached. I moved it towards the front of the arch where I could see it better, by the rockwork still, and covered it with a mesh container for a while.

It didn’t come out all that day, even after I uncovered it and tried to feed, so I felt pretty hopeless, as it didn’t seem to want to move or attach itself. I ended up covering it again overnight with the mesh container to make sure the Goby wouldn’t bury it... and this morning, it surprised me, because it was once again open and out. The tentacles appear to have taken some damage but overall the tube seems unaffected by the attack or being buried.

Hopefully the goby only has to learn that lesson once.

Also on Thursday, the coral Joe ordered from @REEFTIDE came! Super impressed with the packaging (it was overkill if anything; they even put o-rings around each frag plug to secure it to the cup!), and I got those floated and acclimated as well. They sent a couple of shirts for us, and some polyp-booster to try out, too!

Had to try the shirt on while I was waiting for them to acclimate:

(Already broken in and salty, now! Ignore my test kits living on the mantle.....ahem.)

And onto the racks they went!
