Okay, reefers. Update time. I did get my box from Pieces if the Ocean! It arrived an hour early (3:30) on Thursday and the packaging was perfect. No way the bag would have budged during shipment. Unfortunately, though, the torch didn’t appear to make it through transit.

There was a LOT of slime and some brown in the bag, and the torch had recessed itself completely into the skeleton. Didn’t look good at all. Still, I floated, acclimated, dipped and placed the torch on my frag rack where it was receiving the same flow as my other euphyllia, and hoped.

It tried to open after a couple of hours;

But by the next morning I knew it was a goner... so I went ahead and contacted POTO and let them know what was going on and sent in pictures of the shipment when received. Asked if there was anything I could do or if they thought the torch was too far gone.

Their customer service team responded very quickly, told me it looked like it was gone from the original photos, and made sure I went ahead and removed it as carefully as possible since it wasn’t improving. (I think this broke my heart a little. Mostly because it had tried to open the previous evening.)

This is how it looked when it was removed;

We went over everything and they immediately set me up with a replacement, which is getting shipped out with my next order. Tony is amazing, and made sure I knew exactly what to do to get it set up on my end. I went ahead and ordered something else I wanted and I am now, once again......waiting on a box.

I am happy that they do such a great guarantee because sometimes things look ok when they get there and then 24hrs later they die.

I was literally just writing on here how much you helped while I was waiting for them to respond! You get all my love! I was definitely disheartened by it, and you made me feel 1000x better by telling me about your experiences with their support team.

I'm very sorry to hear that this torch didn't ship well. This was an Aussie gold 24k right,?

I have actually heard some scuttlebutt the last week or so that a recent batch of torches coming from Australia through are not shipping well.

I'm glad we bought them from places with a solid guarantee!

Yes, it was an Aussie 24k. I really hated to see it happen. It was a beautiful coral. That’s the downside of the hobby, though, right? Can’t be sunshine and puppy-dog tails all the time.

I’m really happy with Pieces of the Ocean. They’ve been awesome through the entire process. The guarantee definitely puts you a little more at ease when you’re dropping that much money on one coral, too. Just hoping the next box makes it here safe and sound, now!

Tiny update: I think I am going to have a few more Utter Chaos popping open in the next day or two. I noticed the new polyps last week, but yesterday one of them started to peek out finally!

It also appears my two Banggai cardinals have paired off better than I had hoped, because the male is now holding eggs in his mouth and refusing to eat. Going to try and see if I can rear the fry with some guidance from @F i s h y along the way.

I like them a lot. I wanted pajama cardinals too but the banggai have really grown on me. They stay below my bottom frag rack usually, by the little yuma island where the flow is lowest and the tangs don’t really ever go. They literally never leave that spot unless I feed the tank. Homebodies!

What zoa is that in the middle picture?! I like the yellow colors!
Poto exosphere they are stunning!
They don’t currently have any on their site. I recommend emailing Tony and ask if they will have any during the next auction as you can usually grab them for less than if you buy them outright ([email protected])
