6 hours!
That is how long I have spent up until this point, transferring my 35 gallon to my new Red Sea reefer 250 v3. And I am not even close to done..
Anyway, had to take a break to eat and put my kid to bed, so this is how far I have come!
funny how decent size corals and fish can look so small in new dimentions!
The water is cloudy and I had to toss the rocks and corals in there fast so I still got some moving around to do.
Water is still somewhat cloudy, but everything survived the move, all corals are open mostly and the fishes seem super hppy to be able to stretch out and swlm more open.
New skimmer!
Bought the Deltec 600i, it is rated for up to 400 liters but since I rely mostly on mechanical filtration I thought a big skimmer will do fine.
Also bought a new Flux RX package, I still have some algae left, I will give Vibrant a few weeks then its full blast with Flux.
Maxing the skimmer space, perfect fit! Sharing space with heater and carbon reactor.
Noticed my blue kenya tree has dropped 2 babies, and they have drifted a long way from their mother. One is at the back of the tank next to the overflow, and the other is at the opposite side of the tank.
I will leave these in, but I am not looking at making a kenya tree tank even though their color is really nice, so any others will be removed!
Mother coral:
One made it to the other side of the tank, it grabbed on to a Caulastrea frag:
And one attached to a rock at the back, next to the overflow. It is hard to see in this picture, but you see the top, and its reflection in the glass:
Got a new wavemaker today, I noticed my flow wasnt the strongest and too constant.
Went with the budget verison from Jebao. Will evaluate in a few days.
My lfs tricked me! They said the blue Kenya tree wasnt a selffragging mess, well I just picked my third bud in the last two weeks! I dont want a forrest in my reef!
My green Nephthea have been a really slow grower, so I decided to remove the rubber band that was holding it down, thinking it might encourage growth. And now I realise banding it down for several months is a bad move, the Nephthea is a little squished and has grown in the shape of the band. I placed my green Cabbage coral under the band instead since
Hope it blasts of now when its ”free”!
Home sick so might as well test the water, only thing I am not sure of is the po4, I have a small spot of Cyano so I would be happier if I atleast got a pale blue reading of the test.
Juat got a new led fixture to replace my cube leds. Bought the Maxspect rsx 150w.
Currwntly running it on the sps preset, will leave it there until I got a setup I am happy with.
Also bought some Copepods to seed the new tank.
Also, pods!
And thought I would share my sump. I use mainly mechanical filtration, a oversized skimmer pulling wet foam and two filtersocks. I also have a activated carbon reactor.
In the refugium compartment I just tossed some liverock rubble to house my mean hermit and some pods.
Two nice looking corals I have in my reef, a pulsing Xenia and a Blue Kenya tree. They have one thing in common, they both have to go today!!
Both are self fragging, fast growing pests! I dont know what I thought when I introduced them but they clearly cant be contained. I have found both Kenya tree frags and Xenia frags on opposite sides of where the colony is placed.
Got my first Euphyllia Glabrescens, torch coral today! A black veriety, it is still retracted a bit after dipping but really excited to see it develope.
