Question: what do you think the reefing hobby/hobbyists should stop doing?

Hey now. There’s a lot of dumb people with money and they need to be enticed into the hobby and exploited, so they give up in the first year and sell me their mp40’s for 100$ each after being fed up and quitting over some algae

Stop reefing for “prestige”. Go buy a fancy car or jewelry instead. Leave the sea animals to those that actually enjoy them for what they really are.

Polo reef isn't overstocked at all, its 17000 gallons. Most of the tangs are yellow tangs as well which are some of the smallest. His tank only looks overstocked because all the fish crowd around the front of the glass because that is where they get food.

Lol. It was a joke. 17000 gallons is too small for a single yellow tang, didn't you know?

Condemning live rock into some pest + pathogen filled vessel to put into your reef, only to use dry rock and seed it with minuscule biome from coral + small rocks that they come on, is something that I’ll never wrap my head around. A reef at a year of age should be mature enough to show signs of growing out, not just passing an ugly stage and being able to keep more demanding corals alive.

Stop looking at your tank as a "collection".

These are all living animals - the fish, the coral, the snails. Not a collection, but an ecosystem, and you should be doing your best to make sure everything thrives. That sometimes includes not buying at all.

First thing for the industry is to stop selling snake oil.
