I’m currently using Triton Core 7 flex on my tank. The advantage of Core 7 flex is that it allows you to combine the Mag/Cal/trace into one 1 part and then dose it in equal amounts with the Alk. Basically it allows you to dose it as a 4 part or true 2 part. It also has additional trace elements that a refugium depletes to prevent that from being an issue. I’ve been using it as 2 part for a year now with good results.
Unfortunately Triton Core 7 Flex is now on clearance at BRS. While I have found no evidence that they are going to stop making/selling it, it has me nervous. I have 4 dosing heads and I’m using 2 of them for coral nutrition dosing. I would need to rethink my tank if I can’t use a true 2 part. I prefer not to dose mag or trace elements by hand.
My tank is ~100 gal SPS dominated with a refugium. There is no room for calcium reactor. My tank runs low pH without a scrubber. I believe the soda ash in Triton helps. Even with the scrubber and dosing, my pH hover around 8.0 to 8.2. I am running a refugium (hence the choice to use triton). If Triton Core 7 Flex becomes unavailable, what do you guys suggest as a good alternative that I can use on 2 dosing heads? I’d like it to address major minor trace and help keep the refugium from stripping out too many elements.
