Hey all! I'm sure this is a common question, but I've still struggled to find a solid answer on this situation. My phosphates are higher than I want them to be, but my nitrates have consistently hovering around zero. What can I do to mitigate this with my current setup. Details below

40 gal tank, a bit over 3 months old at this point
Phosphates are currently at 0.5
Nitrates around zero
I've been doing a 5gal water change every two weeks
Using Phosguard, been replacing every month

Everything in the tank is happy, but still dealing with some diatoms though as my glass gets a new film every few days.

Thanks for all the input!

I’d personally dose ammonium bicarbonate and ignore the phosphate for now.

If you dont want to ignore it, replace the phosguard after 2-3 days, and consider switching to GFO.
