I’m in the process of deciding what fish I want for my new system. I’d give my eye teeth to be able to have a large shoal of red spot cardinal fish. I know I want fish that like to shoal, and a school of red spots would be my first choice. Stoplight cardinal fish would be my second as of now. The only negative I’ve found so far is their small size in relation to the hippo tang. A school of twenty or thirty of either would be stunning, especially with a few larger fish.

I’ve also thought about either a snowflake or zebra moray. Of course if I went that route I obviously wouldn’t be able to keep small fish at all.

As for tangs I might add a desjardini tang. Convict tangs are cool too. I’d like to add at least one yellow to the mix as well.

Considering I also want wrasses and anthias among others I have to keep researching. Even a 210 can only hold so much.

I’ve also been researching pumps for the closed loop. Although I have not decided on what pump I want yet here is the front runner.

If I go with this pump I’ll buy two initially then get a third just in case I need to replace a pump. It would also allow me to swap out a clean pump for one that needs to be cleaned with little downtime in between.
You could do a bunch of wrasse! @tbrown will restrain myself from loading into the post almost every wrasse imaginable lol.

Something else maybe you could is a whole bunch of Zebra Dartfish. They would be a great complement I think to the cardinals if you go for them, and some good color and character.

Speaking of being a pain in the wrasse, what wrasses would you recommend?
Lots! Lots and lots and lots! If you like the community style, then going for some Cirrhilabrus Macropharyngodon and Halichoeres are wonderful choices! If you like the more expensive and sensitive side then Anampses and Paracheilinus are perfect. There is a plethora to choose from. Look up some under the names I’ve given that you like and we can go from there. For some examples, here is my list of wrasse, this is my stock plan for my tank.

Halichoeres leucoxanthus
Cirrhilabrus naokoae
Cirrhilabrus lubbocki
Paracheilinus attenuatus
Macropharyngodon negrosensis
Cirrhilabrus johnsoni
Halichoeres iridis
Halichoeres melanurus
Xenojulis margaritaceus
(Deciding between Paracheilinus nuraslim and Cirrhilabrus scottorum)

no green wrasses. they're the mean ones.
Usually but not always. Xenojulis margaritaceus is super peaceful almost too peaceful and gets bullied easily, and Halichoeres chloropterus (Jade) can get pushy but it is not overly touchy with other wrasse unless it’s a same size Halichoeres in a smaller space.
