A lot has happened since the last time I updated. The copperband would never take to any food and ultimately died. Dr. Reef was gracious enough to give me credit even though I was outside the guarantee. I used that credit for a long nose butterfly, I’m so glad I made the switch. Super active fish and voracious eater! And now for the big news! The 65 will continue to run as I make the upgrade to an 8’x2’x2’ 240 gallon monster tank!! One the new tank is in place and ready everything will be transferred to a forever home!

Aw, sorry about the copper band but what a beautiful fish you replaced it with!

Well, today’s the day!! Have to move the Tideline from its current spot to make room for the 8 foot monster tank I’ll be picking up next weekend!!!

I'll pick your brain before this tank goes away. Did you put the skimmer in and then put your light mount on? I only have 2 noops on mine but the mounting bracket gets in the was of the skimmer.

When I had two lights I had the light to the left of the skimmer and the skimmer close to the return pump chamber on the right. Now that I have three I had to move the skimmer towards the right overflow filter section and placed the light on the right side of the skimmer. This is the placement with three lights the light to the left of the skimmer is dead center of the tank. Had to cut a slit in the mounting bracket so the glass divider sits in the center of the light mount. I may have had to place the skimmer in first and then place the light. I can’t remember as I have had three lights for about a year now.

Got the tank pretty clean! Working on the sump to accommodate filter socks instead of the reef mat that that previous owner was running. This should stop the waterfall noise that the sump had previously. Starting to order the equipment in order to get the tank wet!

Wow, what a score. Mine is almost exactly half the dimensions. One day....one day...
Never thought it would be an upgrade to a tank this size, but I got the tank/stand/ sump and some other equipment for a heck of a deal. The sump is a glass cages 75 gallon. It’s built like a beast!

Converting the sump from a filter roller setup from the original owner to a filter sock/ refugium setup. Have always run a refugium and find it easier to dial in nutrients via light time over the refugium and using finer or coarser filter socks in conjunction. Drilled the glass on the overflow chamber and welded the acrylic pieces together for the sock holder. After I cut the holes for the 4” filter socks.

Have made some progress in getting this monster running! Got the canopy being built as well as new doors for the stand to match.
Received three more noops yesterday. This will make for 6 over this tank. Will supplement with quanta bars as needed.
Got two 20 amp circuits dropped today to add power to the beast!
Been working on glueing rocks to build the scape with the three islands that will come from the Tideline.
Things are slowly coming together!

New tank looks huge! Question about the UV you used in the Tideline though. How did you mount it? We’re looking at the GKM as well but it looks like it’s about 17” tall.
I didn’t keep my gkm in the tank all the time. Would just use it intermittently. When I had it in the tank for the longest amount of time I put it into the chamber to the left of the overflow chamber. It fits but you have to angle it to fit all the way under water. You can rotate the pump around to make it fit.

Made some good progress yesterday. Got all the plumbing hooked up. Have to start mounting the electronics but not in a rush as I’m still waiting on the canopy to be built.
