Electric company cut my electricity today at 1pm , I asked them to cut my other property but they got it weong
Been calling all day with the same answers , you just have to wait for a new contract

So, after begging ( paying) a neighbour I bought a 20m cable and it’s dangling from her upstairs window to the tank
Everything’s running but the sump light cos it got wet but will be fine till Monday
Jesus what a day

Out of interest , do you have a generator or alike in standby for these unforeseen events?

I keep a portable generator on hand but am seriously considering a whole home unit. I have way more invested in tanks and such than the cost would be.

That IS a nightmare. I have an uber-powerful generator that will handle the entire tank, my two refrigerators, 1 freezer, some lights, TV and the XBox. The XBox is the most important. Gotta have prioiries! When it's time, I'll have battery backup as well, in case I'm away.

I think every reefer should have a generator, we need to start thinking on these like is a part of our equipment, like a skimmer or apex, we don’t want to risk all that money and time invested.

I think it's important to suggest that there are other options - i.e. batteries - which are quite expensive - but could be incorporated into a solar plan. the problem with portable generators is that they do not turn on automatically....

I can’t have a generator in my apartment.. luckily battery back up’s, bait air stones, and even manual pouring water back into the tank has kept the tanks going during power loss.

Would love one someday.

Reminds me that I need to get a bigger battery backup now that my tank is bigger.

I have a furman 9kW with inverter. Cost me $1200 at the time. About 2 years ago now.
Best investment ever made. Has wheels, takes gas or propane.. about 280lbs full of gas in total weight so they arent light. But if you have 25-90k$ on the line. Then the 2$k is worth it all day. ImO

If you decide on a UPS backup, you'll want a pure sine wave device. I have a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD.

Interesting that you posted your nightmare -- we had a 2 hour power outage two nights ago. This little UPS kept the return pump and heater on my AIO for the duration, with roughly an hour of juice to spare. That said, the ambient temperature stayed above 70 and the light was already completely off for the night. (EDIT: This is just a little nano, 100watt heater & mightyjet return pump.)

I'm very worried about extended outages in the winter here, especially if the temperature drops to -10, -20 degrees.

I wonder if there's a way to use an EV to power the tank... I have an EV. :)

I keep large amounts of cash hidden from the crazy lady for just these kinds of incidents. For a power outage, I have a generator in the closet ready to deploy but a line cord is a good option if the neighbors still have power. What happens if the lady upstairs loses power?
I also keep silver and gold, weapons and MRI food in a safe house nearby that I can scramble to if the elections go sideways again. The world has become an unreliable source of support since the spread of climate change and COVID-19 pathogens have taken hold of the minds of many unstable souls.

Vote for the zebra and not what got bit.

Don't get me started on Influencers. Can't remember what they used to be called but it was equally bad. I'm stopping now. Otherwise, this will end up a 5 page rant. Do I sound like a Boomer?

Yep after losing my whole tank to a faulty outlet. We have a generator now to hook up if something happens
