well.......they looked completely awesome when viewing them in RAW format, amazingly vivid. but after converting them to jpeg, and cropping them down a bit........they look a bit average. i imagine the photo editing program i have that is 5 years old is at fault for this...... :(

guess my photo software needs to get upgraded so i don't lose so much image quality in the conversion process.

the live view on the 40D is extreamely useful for macro photography, as i can digitally zoom in to just one polyp to see if it is in focus or not before i take the picture. before, by just looking through the view finder it was kinda a guessing game, trying to make out if a single polyp was in complete focus or not.

battery just died on me.....so I'll have to try again tomorrow.

you mean send you the RAW files? sure!!!

but, each one is 10mb.......i'm not even sure how to transfer something that large....i don't think my email server will allow anything over 1.5mb.

Very simple....

Open PS...

Image > Adjust > Auto levels

Then go to Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask and adjust it how you like it. :D

I wish I had a camera that would do that. All I have is a Sony Mavica and I can not get a good picture ever!

wow, the polyps stand out much more......what did you do?

as per what Rev did, you can also take your 10mb RAW files and just auto-level them in PS and then do some sharpening......colour reproduction should be ideal (this is tried and true on Nikons DSLRS, dunno about Canon)

Also...if you find your images are being washed out because of intense bright areas AND dark areas within the same image, then try tonemapping/high dynamic range imaging (HDR)...this technique was designed for landscapes, but I have done it on macros and it works just as well, imo

Zach.
