My return was moving lots of sand in a corner so I bought a new tip for my locline. I just put it on and restarted my pump. Now my main siphon won't pull but my durso style does. It's also making the gurgling noise. I put the durso to finish in my return section and the other two are in the skimmer section. 3 questions: Do I have air in a line? Is the return pump creating a stronger siphon and making that drain work harder? If none of the above then my third question is Do you know what to do? Haha. No valves were touched. I only switched nozzles and restarted. The main drain isn't showing any flow at all.

My drains have worked fine until today. I knew it was wrong before but my durso drain isn't submerged when the water level stabilizes in the sump. Is that my cause?

Pics of your overflow might help. I wonder maybe if you restricted the flow or slowed the flow down enough to mess with the full siphon but still too much flow for the durso? Just throwing ideas here. I know dursos' by themselves require a slower flow in order to run quietly. Im not much help here, I do know that drain issues can be frustrating.

Here's the inside of the overflow. I have more from the back in this thread. I stuck a tube, from the sump, up into the full siphon and I sucked the air out and it kicked in. Does that tell what my issue is?

Ok, again Im not up to speed with the different overflow options and all the specifics but, I would reverse your durso and emergency. Looking back in your thread and if I have it right, your durso is the middle? Just looking at the pic it looks like the far back is Durso, middle is emergency, and front I guess full siphon? Just a guess but Im assuming you had some trapped air in the full siphon which you took care of question is will it repeat itself. I would run a few tests and see if she starts up and runs properly after a power outage. One question, should the full siphon be sitting lower in the overflow then the open or durso? They look to be the same height if your durso is in the back, maybe part of your problem?

Thats not a durso sorry. A durso requires an air inlet. That is why you generally see a tee at the top. You are siponing with this set up and will likely do a lot of flushing.

The far is durso with a drilled hole in the top. It finishes in the return section. Middle is emergency and it finishes in the skimmer section as does the full siphon. The full is lower than my durso.

So a hole doesn't make an air inlet? Do I have to use tubing for a proper durso? It runs fine and barely pulls water down while running. I just encountered this after a few weeks of running. I have stopped and restarted it multiple times before this happened.

I think maybe your hole is in the wrong spot? Move it back in the 90 and take a 3-4" piece of airline tubing down it.

I could not see the hole on my phone sorry. It is not a traditional Durso at least and with out messing with it myself I can't say how yours works. A durso needs constant air when water is flowing through it.
It could be as previously stated that the hole is in the wrong spot.

Here is the website for Durso's and it explains very well how to make them. I personally do not have mine as low as they recommend to keep them quiet.

Actually they will not let me post a link so go to dusro stand pipes dot com

I read on there that some people found it easier to tune if you drill several smaller holes than to drill one larger hole. I can move the hole back and have two holes, or I can make this one larger. I was under the impression that the water would cover the hole and create a siphon if there was a blockage. That's the only reason I drilled it at that part.

You are welcome. I started doing several small holes years ago because it was more quiet than one large hole. The smaller holes I drill are just larger than a tooth pick. I probably have 7 or 8 of them drilled. They will clog with salt creep so every few months you will need to clean them out.

Finally got my Kessil in for my refugium. Hopefully I'll get a good pod population going.

I also got a this shrimp goby and a pistol shrimp. They've been "moving in" the past few days. Glad to actually get going. I've added some frags too.

I quickly realized how powerful this light is and had to move it around. I just harvested a basketball size chunk of chaeto. I'd recommend this light to anyone that is interested in it.

iPhone shot of the blasto I switched over into this tank. Polyps extended quickly after I added it so hopefully he'll be happy.

Going to let the tank get a little older and set up my dosing pumps so I can add these guys. WWC sent me these three months ago. They're encrusting the frags and they're my first few sps so I'm happy. [emoji854]

Added these guys from UC along with red people eaters and a bonus frag. Anyone know what these guys are called? I didn't know if they had one or are just called yellow palys.
