I should do Mollies... I have a spare 30 sphere for my daughter. When her room is clean enough I can set that up, move her Convicts over, and set up the 20 as a Molly tank and slowly bring it to saltwater levels. Then it can be my hospital/QT once they're switched over...I’m watching the tank which now has a running sump. Oh and I’m transferring the mollies to their new home.
All I can see in my mind right now is Ursula with flaming hair...fire mermaid is still happening!
Sir I’m married …

Man, and I was eating when I saw this!
How much are you adding at one time? Adding vinegar drops your alkalinity, not as much as adding muriatic acid, but still some. Dropping your alkalinity drops your pH.when I add vinegar to my tank it drops my PH bigtime. it'll bounce back but its disheartening to see. Can anyone give me the quick chemistry?
I add 2 ml 10 times daily.when I add vinegar to my tank it drops my PH bigtime. it'll bounce back but its disheartening to see. Can anyone give me the quick chemistry?
It’s normal but idk why haha! I’m struggling to keep my ph over 8 once I started zeo and bacto balance.. I even got my way oversized skimmer pulling air from outside.when I add vinegar to my tank it drops my PH bigtime. it'll bounce back but its disheartening to see. Can anyone give me the quick chemistry?
hmm is there a common practice to safely neutralize the acid before adding it to the tank I'm not aware of?Chemistry 101: Vinegar is acid, acid is less than pH 7. Adding acid to water lowers pH.
I'm not sure... Adding a base would neutralize the acidity but would it also neutralize the benefit of dosing vinegar? Adding air can raise the pH to normalize water with a low pH. I wonder what aerating vinegar would do.hmm is there a common practice to safely neutralize the acid before adding it to the tank I'm not aware of?
like if I add a bit of 2-part alk to the vinegar to neutralize it will I still get the benefit of the carbon? guess I should ask on the chemistry page...
