For the record, Earl doesn't like this encruster...
Had a roller land on top of it and burned a hole, down to skeleton about double the mushroom siis
Mine is "encrusting" the bare bottom, but is not attaching to the glass as a gsp flesh mat would. Is it encrusting on the back glass like a gsp?
Kinda like cyphastrea thenMine is "encrusting" the bare bottom, but is not attaching to the glass as a gsp flesh mat would.
Not really. Cyphastrea will also grip to whatever it's growing on.Kinda like cyphastrea then
But is easy to remove compared to GSP. I can work at it and remove it from the rock without breaking it. It then hold the shape of the rock it was growing on.this stuff grows on anything ,any texture,
hence the sheets, they all came off the glass of the tank it came from. But is easy to remove compared to GSP. I can work at it and remove it from the rock without breaking it. It then hold the shape of the rock it was growing on.
All it takes is a little piece on some live rock from FL. It is about bullet proof and can range from green, blue or purple in color. I have all 3 lol.hence the sheets, they all came off the glass of the tank it came from.
purple/blueish sounds awesomeAll it takes is a little piece on some live rock from FL. It is about bullet proof and can range from green, blue or purple in color. I have all 3 lol.
The purple seems to grow a little slower, unless you blast it with 700-800 par. At one point, I had a piece under MH and at 1200-1300 par, It grew like a weed. For reference, Bathtub Beach Reef in FL has it growing in tidal pools where at high tide the water is about a foot or 2 deep and it gets exposed at low tides sometimes. The stuff just grows and grows, but then gets buried in sand from a storm and becomes rock on the reef. Yet, more will grow elsewhere until covered up.
It would all end up as star coral. I actually use it to control GSP in the 7' nem tank lol. It sends out small sweepers (like very short) nukes the gsp and then encrusts that tiny area it nuked. This repeats over and over again. I am not talking super fast or anything, like it is taking over, but it happens just a tad faster than GSP grows lol.its pretty cool, could do half the tank background in that star coral, half in gsp
yin and yang
