This is a huge problem with the hobby influencers. We need some pitfalls and trials and errors in our stories and feeds.

Let's start by not calling anyone "influencers" and we will be a lot better off.

Both Everyone, and No one is an "influencer" to My Reef.

No two dream tanks, tastes, or pocketbooks are the same. I don't want anybody carbon copying mine just as I don't have any desire to copy someone else's reef.

Luckily this hobby has as much artistic drive as it does, So we don't need to worry about a hundred tanks all looking the same because some "influencers" said it was the right way.

Here is how I would be an "influencer"

Do what you want, do what works for you, and if you want to copy someone to a "Tee", go jump off a cliff. (to old to get on a soap box, so stated that from my recliner)


Maybe that is why I do not do any social media thingys lol.

Could you imagine me on social media..... I would be banned in .0001 seconds. At least in R2R, it is stated to keep it family friendly or get the boot. They apply it to all, and I have had a boot put somewhere while here, so can say it is true lol.

In social media they would be considered "influencers" by The lemmings who need someone else to influence every part of their life.

In Reefing, I would call them smart people with dope tanks who know what they're doing.

More of a descriptor for what's actually happening as titles have been, for a Long Time.

We've been creating content for media As long as there has been media. Those people were journalists were photographers were writers. See how the title depicts what they actually are doing? Anyone creating content for YouTube, TikTok, Facebook name? Your newfangled media here.. They are only creating content. I would throw up in my own mouth if at any point, I told someone I was an influencer. A few times people have told me they were influencers, It got real funny real quickly because I asked them specific questions about their influence, their intention. The answer all essentially looks like " I want that Kardashian money yo".

Influencer means nothing. Narcissist would be more of a fair definition.
