Try cotton ball on a snap trap

Set like this the hook / bait area secure the cotton ball. Wind up and stick through bait area and fluff back up. Works 99% of the time.

Mice naturally run against walls. Setting with the trigger against the wall means they will step on it as they run. The cotton ball is for nesting. They will like thier nest with it. Mice will grab the cotton ball and tug setting off the trap. Peanutbutter they can lick off.
