I have straight up 2" holes is the walls with PVC connecting my tank in the sitting room to the sump in my office.

yeah if I did that I wouldn’t be able to post here any more. I’d be feeding the worms and fertilizing the back yard grass lol

one thing i avoid.. plumbing systems together...

I suspect I can guess some of the reasons as to why. And those alone…yeah it’s more of a mental exercise/thought experiment than anything else right now

for me, I’m not going to seriously consider it unless I can set up an automated continues water exchange system ala what Ned has. And I don’t see that becoming a possibility for at least a decade if not more time.

Hi all,
I hope you all are having a better day than I am with regards to this marine hobby. My purple tang was found dead this morning in my FOWLR, probably due to poor water quality (though ammonia and nitrites are zero but nitrates are around 160-200 ppm and brown hair algae and cyanobacteria are excessive...)

so sorry to hear...we been there with a blue hippo a month ago

Not sure about toxicity and harming tang or anything but can tell you I just had to get rid of my porcupine puffer for same reason. Sky high nitrates bottoming out phosphates wreaking dino havoc in one of my tanks. All I can say is I've noticed the grumpy old tang has really perked up since I started scrubbing nitrates and removing them. Dinos is going away as well.

that is why I am building a air exchange tower and sulfur and arrgonite dual chamber reactor for the 300.
waiting for the 4 pounds of sulfur to get here...and 10 pounds of arrgonite
