Hello, and happy Sunday

The nitrates are driving me crazy to get them under control. It does not help that the doseing is losing prime.

Numbers look good. I am going to feed more to get the phosphates up.

Here we are, it Monday :)

Phosphates are testing Zero, but are the really Zero? I say no, I have some cyano and algae throwing the numbers off. I upped the dosing of vodka and I mixed in with the vodka NP-pro and I am switch back to NP-pro. I might does some phosphates until I get the Nitrates down.

Alk is creeping up a tad bit

I made a light composer schedule up and now to see if I am good with the settings. I went with more blue than white.

Saturday test 11/26/22

Today 11/28/22
Screenshot 2022-11-28 at 4.37.34 PM.png

Got me in a new Maxi 2.2 I might have a chance to test the doser out in another week. Then it will be time for the Proflux controller.

Once I get the nitrates down, the color will pop.

Test results for 12/118/22
The nitrates are still up there, grrrr. Phosphate are sitting a zero for two week. I have been feeding so there are some phosphates in the system.

Screenshot 2022-12-18 at 1.56.21 PM.png

I am adjusting the salt and retesting Wednesday. I will also might have to up the Mg on the next water change. I am also mixing components 2+3+. One of the Doser heads need replacing on one of the GHL 2.0 dosers. Pretty cheap to replace.

It is filter sock season
IMG_1300.jpeg

Yellow was on sale this time, and they were out of white :face-with-tears-of-joy:
Per suggestion I did a manual water change to try to get the nutrients balanced. I have been messing with the nutrients for months now. Monday there were a bunch of four letter words in frustration.

One of the employees @TopShelfAquatics @ShawnS1974 took the time to talk and walk me through the process, plus wrote down some suggestion of how to bring down my nitrates. Thank you.

My Numbers yesterday

I will check my number again tomorrow. I will do another manual water change Monday, then my regular AWC later in the week.

Happy New Year 2023

Nitrates are down 3 points and the algae is been scrubbed for the past couple of days. Phosphate are still 0.

I am going to do another vac and water change with the Pro biotic salt. I really want to get my hands on the Aquaforest Hybrid pro reef salt. I have the feeling that I will have great results using the new salt with the combined pro biotic effect with a longer mixed shelf life.

I cleaned the GHA pretty good yesterday. I will be bumping up the Alk, but leaving the rest alone.

That is a tough one. I really like the Walt Disney coral.
That’s one of the best acros. A staple!

I do!

There is a link in my build thread badge. I don’t want to post the link here, because I don’t want to advertise my thread on yours.

My goal has been to get tank to the point that I am not just adding corals, back to were the corals grow out.

Looks like I am going to do a water change today and tomorrow with Aquaforest pro biotic salt. My nitrates are creeping up and phosphates.

I am also going to change out my old Maxi for the new one. One of my heads are not working correctly on the old one, I am going to have to source a new head via Neptune.

Todays numbers
Screenshot 2023-02-19 at 2.46.46 PM.png

Once I have the water changes done, I would say that my big three will fall back in line.

Do you mix your salt in batches or each water change? Curious about the reef salt and 1+2+3+. I'm guessing you are in florida when I saw a picture from wwc and mentioned tropical storm. The season is coming back. It's a good 2 hour drive for me.

The Aquaforest reef salt has a 3 day shelf live after the salt is mixed. The probiotic has a 24 hour shelf life after mixing. If you go with the new reef salt, plus do you have any have a 3 day self life after mixing but with all the benefits of the probiotic salt :)

The 1+2+3+ is the balling method from Aquaforest. The 1+2+3+ supplements your system from absorption of the system were in theory one would not have to do water changes unless you nutrient level creep up.

We try not to talk about tropical storms down here, you know they are going to happen:). If you have not road one out, tropical storms are pretty nerve racking. Since I have been down here we have road out a few that have come right over the house or realllllllly close. We were fortunate last season and we did not have a direct hit. We were also very fortunate not to have the flooding from last storm.
