Hey reefer's, today i saw 1 of the lfs carry Moyer's leopard wrasse. But I'm not sure whether I'm up the challenge or not. Especially on the feeding part.
My tank already got 1 mandarin feeding on pods. If i were to get this wrasse, would that cost the mandarin lacking of pods?

Also during acclimation, does it do well in a bare bottom condition ?

It will endlessly hunt for pods so whether there is enough for two pod hunters depends on your tank.

It can handle no sand if you mean just during acclimation and not any prolonged quarantine.

They are on the little more aggressive side for a leopard.

Yaya just during acclimation. Maybe within a week ? As i thought of pellet train before release.

Possible for pintail fairy to show any aggressiveness toward it ?

Don't put it in bare bottom for a week. Add sand to the acclimation box if you are going that route.

I had one and it was very easy to feed, most leopards eat prepared and pellets after a little while. Never had one that didn't.

If it’s eating at the store and you don’t have any aggressive fish a leopard wrasse shouldn’t be too hard. For acclimation you can put a tub of sand in.
Or, do what I did and have a Nano for establishing other fish ;)

One of the new guys entering my new nano today.

I just added a beautiful Moyeri leopard wrasse a few minutes ago. It came in yesterday and was eating frozen at the LFS this morning. Within 2 minutes of adding him to the tank, he is already eating Formula 1 and 2 flakes. He is getting along with a large 5 bar mystery wrasse, a Fiji exquisite wrasse, an orange shoulder, a pintail, and many other small fairy wrasses.

Wow this is good. Does the Moyeri same size or smaller than your existing wrasse? Particularly the first 3 you mentioned?

It's the same size roughly, give or take a 1/4". No aggression at all so far. The Moyeri is also joining in at the nori clip and seems to love it! Always out and about. I also enjoy how it appears to love swimming in the top portion of the tank in the open water above all the corals, as well as exploring the rockscape. Lots of fun to watch and the coloration is lovely. His coloration almost rivals the 5 bar mystery.
