My poor orange digi getting taken over by BC Confused Rainbow Reverse Sunset Monti.

10 weeks later, the monti is still slowly overtaking the digi, which luckily had a head start. Recently, a black widow bta has joined the fight and is holding the monti at bay on the back side of the rock. I welcome this newcomer to help stem the monti scourge.

Found a couple of my montipora pics, got plenty more if I can find them. First pic is a shot from the under-side up towards the top of my 300g reef. almost looks like a shot you'd get while diving under the sea IMO, if I could dive that is, that's what I'd think i'd be able to see o_O

Anyone ever have or allow Montis to encrust on live clams
Clams secretes biotoxins. Some will bore into rock. My maxima wouldn't allow my mystic sunset to grow on it. You can see how the mss grew around it.

Yup that's what I figured, almost all marine life seems to do something like this , even coraline algae to some extent can do something like that, cool picture and information thanks

Here’s my only thriving montipora, brought back from a browned out frag. Not growing yet but it’s colouring up nicely and the PE looks great. For those that are unsure, it’s a Montipora spoingodes.
