Hey! Ive been out of the hobby for a couple of years when my wife was sick with ovarian cancer. Sadly she passed away on May 3rd. For me it’s time to get back into the hobby and build my dream tank. I purchased a Infinia reef 150 which should be here Friday 7/5.

Equipment:
- Apex A3 Pro controller
-Syncra SDC 7.0 return pump
- 2 Radion XR15 Pros for lighting
- 2 Vortech MP40’s for flow
- BRS 300 watt titanium heater

I’m looking for a good protein skimmer if anyone has recommendations. Also any other equipment you might think be suited for the tank, while I’ve only been out of the hobby for 4-5 years a lot of new stuff has hit the market.

built the stand and put the sump in place hoping to move the tank today. I have to say I’m impressed with the quality of Waterbox and I’m excited to get this thing cycling! Does anyone have any recommendations for a skimmer?

Can't wait to see your progress. My condolences. Cancer is a terrible disease. She will be with you in this journey. Prayers your way from me and my family to yours.

Fully wet without any leaks! I started to cycle using Fritz Ammonia and Bacteria. Followed the instructions and it’s working like described currently at 2.0 ppm of ammonia.

Small update. Purchased some live rock to help seed, I’m fortunate enough to live by a couple really good LFS. Also purchased the other mp40 and a Trident that I’m going to shelf until needed. I’ve decided on my skimmer a RO Regal 20 SS, should arrive Friday. The plan is going to be to let her cycle while I look at how I want to stock the tank. My landscaper also helped plant a section in the backyard to help memorialize my wife.

I too am sorry to hear of your wife, incredibly sad thing. However, beautiful memorial in the backyard. And I wish you huge success with this build!

Cycle is going really well starting to get some nitrites! Cleaning the glass today I seen the smallest chip smaller then a pencil tip and barely even noticeable from my fingernail. I tried to take a picture but what do you all think? Looking at the pane of glass from the side and top you can’t see it and it was very difficult to take a picture of.

awesome tank and following this thread! I have the same one. Looks like you went with a reef octo and that's an excellent choice. i'm doing the same but going with the 150 instead.

Other equipment on my check list which may be helpful for you"

1. Auto TopOff
2. Auto feeder
3. Filter roller (Red sea 1200)

It’s been a little bit since I’ve updated! A few things that have happened since.

- The tank cycled really well I added some live rock to the sump and a couple small pieces to the main display to help coraline growth.
- I’ve added a pair of clownfish. Some sort of ice whatever didn’t really care the type they just looked cool.
- Purchased an ikea drawer organizer to help keep some supplies.
- Purchased a tunze osmolator 3
- Purchased a controller board to help organize the wires. It’s still a hot mess.
- Just today purchased an Orchid Dottyback, Midas Blenny and a small colony of frogspawn.
- I also purchased a Trident I won’t be hooking that up until I buy more corals and start seeing fluctuations in Alk/Cal
- My daughter wanted me to attach a picture of her betta tank too
- Soon I’ll learn how to take pictures with my iPhone where the blue isn’t washing everything out

Both tanks looking good! Did you get the waterbox control board or third party?
