I recorded the convos between the hubs and the mechanic saying "we don't mark up parts, it's the same cost as Ford"

So I'll be walking in tomorrow with the printed Ford quote and the recorded convos and compare the two prices.

$750 Valve body from Ford (looked up with my vin so the exact part.) this is retail to anyone, my actual cost is $604 with a wholesale account.

Plus 45% markup . This is what they told me over the phone was the ACTUAL part cost. Said "no mark up, straight from Ford"

And the rest of the $912 Bill should be fluids and 3 hrs labor.

The problem here is, shop thought hubs was just another dum hillbilly and had no idea what we know. He's on a first name basis with the parts dept at Ford, and has even sold them parts to their body shop a few times.

Tomorrow shall be interesting.....

In other news.... Hubs took our 9yo fishing.. got us a couple trout, and my boy got himself a small mouth bass as well! Pictures of the fishing in action on the hubs phone, I'll get those later. Good 'ol stocked pond gives kids actual success and they get to enjoy fishing.

Strange turn of events. Hubs walked out with keys, invoice, and all the money. Good thing I didn't go in, I would have ruined that.

Had a thunderstorm yesterday that produced a few serious fires in my area. I was in town today and had to take an alternative route home, about a 3hr detour, because my hwy was closed from the fire. Evacuations are only about 15 miles away right now....

This is my hwy to town. Still closed. No estimate on reopening. No mail or UPS/FedEx, no semi trucks for fuel or store freight deliveries. I can take 2 alternative routes to "town" but they are an all day round trip if I have to go. Living in the woods being bottle necked by terrain is fun.

And now the neighbors husky just killed one of my ducks. Pulled him right out of the duck house. The other duck was attacked too but I got out there before he was killed, although I'm pretty worried about internal injuries.

Cop said I shoulda shot the dog. Growled and looked aggressive when I grabbed the dog but I don't care, I'm stupid like that.

Unfortunately due to the terrain and culvert pipe I can't put up a fence. Neighbors have their dogs on the cheapest tie out chains they make and they get off often. Next time will be the last. One has gone after my 4yo before, and we warned them that time they better figure out someone else. Obviously it's action time now.

Yeah we are all living in a smoke house these days. Keep safe. Several of our friends are moving horses to other areas for safety. Lots of people on edge in Julieta and Lapwai. Both towns had evacuation areas last night. We are getting our extra rooms ready incase some of our friends need shelter.

Yeah it got crazy fast! I passed by julietta on my way into town, and it wasn't visible from the hwy yet and by the time I was done in Walmart my husband called and said they closed hwy 12 because I'm fire on both sides. I don't know if they were separate started fires or the fire jumped the river. I ended up going up 95 towards cottonwood, thru GreenCreek and down to kamiah to get home.

I asked the cop this morning how many miles of hwy 12 were on fire and he said about 15 miles. After the fire the next worry is all the land slides that will happen every rain. From the photos I see there are already a lot of rock in the road.
