Congratulations I’m so envious I wanted to win one of those tanks : ( I never win things like that my last win was two tickets to see Donny and Marie Osmond back in 1980 : (
Thank you! I was very shocked, and still am grateful. I am so thankful for this community. All I can say is keep entering! You’re bound to win something soon, they give away so much!

Mail lady dropped off my part A+B this morning. So I dosed that. It says 2 ml each per 25 gallons. I dosed one, since I have literally three corals.13 polyps of palythoa a, three (dying) heads of euphilia and one zoa polyp that opens. I’ll increase as they grow, if they grow. Also started feeding some reef roids starting day after Christmas. We can hope things improve.

I’ve been having a skimmer issue. It foams. A lot. Every morning I have to remove the cup to rinse it out because the foam is pushing the lid off. Foam comes out the little holes in the top of the lid too. I’m not sure if I have that much funk (then again the tank is brown so it’s possible) or if I’m just skimming too dry. I turned it up some a bit ago. I’ll try to skim wet for awhile to see if it improves things. It’s been overfoaming since the euphilia has been closed so it very well could be a nitrate issue. I’m working on a test kit, but until then I think as long as I keep up with my water changes things will improve.

My blenny was buried this morning. It was cold and dark by the time she was gone yesterday and I had time to do something, and I just wasn’t feeling like getting out there. Swim in peace little one. You’re already missed.

My 15 column tank is looking ok. I got a little Aquaneat 24/7 fixture. Since the tank is a little over 12x12, I had to get small and wanted automatic on and off. It was on sale on eBay and hubbs said to go ahead. It came yesterday. I’m impressed with it considering. The tv remote messes with the sensor so I hid that behind my dresser lol. MFP seems to like it. My issues with the fixture is the legs slide way to easily so it doesn’t seem stable. And it’s not a 12” light. It’s 10 1/2 which is ok and works. But don’t sell it as 12” lol. Maybe something to keep in mind if anyone has a little nano planted needing high light.

I am still procrastinating the 29 redo. It’s hard on my hands and jumpy fish make it a pain. Good news is the little guy seems to be halfway welcomed, as in he’s not being beaten and he’s out more now. I’m thinking a small group of cherry barbs as dithers would be nice.

So yeah pics of the 15. I don’t have any good ones of the reef right now, just look at the last one shown and there you go!

Man, I give up. My current situation with the 29:
ACAF0C75-1986-4BB1-9CF6-C92056C2D711.jpeg

I pulled the slate and added sand, moved the wood some and flooded. Planted the plants thinking “This will definitely melt but the lights good enough it’ll grow back before long.” Sit down, hurting from the sand wash and heavy slates and..... flicker flicker, dead. Done. No more light. I knew it was coming, why I put in a request with family for my birthday. BUT COULD YOU NOT WAIT 23 MORE DAYS?! Sigh. Oh well if it all melts at least I’ve some of them in the 15 that will (eventually) fill in enough to replant. On the positive, I’m really happy with the layout. The fish seem ok with it too. I’ll be looking for some wisteria and micro chain swords to add. It’ll fill in quite nicely.

My local store is closing the saltwater tanks down :( luckily I was able to get five hermit crabs for $2.00. He was eager to drain the tank. Also for a fake nem (I know, ew) but my hopes is to see if the clowns will go to it, and work on getting a live one.

Isn’t it bee you tee full? If they like it I’ll like it and eventually get them a real one. Also my euphilia is indeed dying. Part of the top is hard. I’ve been dosing the a+b and reef roids since they came in. Let’s hope it’s enough to save it. My water smells very “green” so I’m sure something is off.

MyGod you can see this bright pink Pom Pom from across the street.

Look at this beautiful bio film on the overflow and side glass. Also this bright breed algae that’s everywhere. It’s in there good too. Maybe coralline? Would be my luck getting the green coralline lol. Also please ignore the hermit, he’s sleeping. Or just hanging out idk. I’ve 6 in total in here and he’s the odd man out. The others are blue legs and he’s a red.

small update today.
First off, thank you to whomever gifted me a refractometer and the calibration fluid! Over the past couple days I had noticed that the frammer wasn’t too happy. I had upped the white light some, and moved the powerhead, but I’m not sure that was the entire issue. Upon advice here, and thanks to @Katrina71 I ordered some Reef roids, and also some Red Sea a+b. Since it’ll be a few days before either arrive, and noticing that today it looked a little more mad I decided to knock the white down to 30%. I also moved it back under the arch way so it’s shaded some. It’s slowly opening up more. It’s getting good flow but not being beaten. Hopefully it’ll hang on and wait for the new goodies. I also noticed that I had some floating debris in the tank so I put the felt sock in to polish it some. Rinsed the foam pad really well, and smooshed it down some in the sump. Getting less micro bubbles from the skimmer now. I also rinsed out the mesh sock. I checked the salinity yesterday and it was a little low, at 30. Topped off yesterday a couple times with saltwater and today and now it’s up to 35. Skimmer is pulling out some nice green brown icky stuff.

I guess it’s a bigger update than I thought lol. Anyhow, a couple pics :)

Yesterday pic on top, today below it on the euphilia.

Obligatory paly shot. Thanks, dad for this lovely coral. It’s as tough as you were.

Awesome! I’ll look at PetSmart next time I get out that way.
U get what u pay for when it comes to carbon. Research it a little. I use RedSea reef spec. There are tons of threads on this forum surrounding the topic. Dig around before u buy. Amazon may be cheaper too. Cheers.

Pulled some hair algae yesterday, put the felt sock back in for the small particulates. Doesn’t look bad this morning. The euphilia is up front again, I don’t know why but it seems happier there. About to feed the tank. Lol that fake nem is so bright.

I have a question regarding dosing. When I EI dosed my planted tanks, I added ferts daily for six days, alternating types(so three days they got the iron ect and the opposite days they got the nitrates ect) and on Sunday’s I wouldn’t dose but did my 50% water change. On this A+B it says feed daily. My question is, I feed in the mornings. Should I move to evening feedings so that in my water change days I’m not pulling out what I dosed, or should I dose after the changes?

I would dose after the changes, but my guess is you are doing way less than 50% on the reef so it is not as big a deal.
