Welcome to my waterbox adventure!

Many of you know I won the newest @Waterbox Aquariums contest: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-waterbox-70-2-reef-system-giveaway-ahhh-yea.635666/ I am beyond shocked that I won and even more excited to begin this adventure. This will be my new tank build thread, in which I will edit my taggy thing above for this one.

My first plans are to locate the perfect spot. I don’t want it where the 60 was; the floor is a bit weak there with no plans in the near enough future to replace and once this goes up I’d rather not move it. So this gives me the living room. I will be measuring pros and cons of both potential spots. I am thinking of painting a mural behind the spot before it arrives.

Thanks to @RichtheReefer21 for the name suggestion! Anyhow, stay tuned! I am sure I’ll have a tons of questions, and photos to share.

hi how are you,how is your reef doing...

I’m fighting off a nasty cold currently.

Yesterday though, I had a new light come in and I’m super pleased! I’ve been waiting since January’s on it and almost lost hope altogether about its arrival. Better late than never, though my poor Goni It’s a lot brighter and I hope to be able to finally have a BTA that will thrive. Still fighting high nitrates. I am out of salt lol. Otherwise, the fish are happy. Maybe my palythoas will no longer umbrella.

here’s a photo taken this morning with Hubbs phone. It captures it a lot better than mine does. I’m still trying to get the settings where I want them. It’s very purple. Maybe turn my red down some. (My walls are quite purple too)

Three days the new light has been in the tank and I can see my palythoas are starting to shrink back down and flatten out. They had been “Umbrella”ing for awhile. I’ve also noticed a little more color in my frammer

One day I’ll be like the cool kids and get a filter for my phone lol.

Like to know some thoughts on what some good corals to add would be? Think a green toadstool would get too big too fast? As of right now I’ve got the frammer, palythoas and two RFAs. I… want more lol. Remember guys, I’m poor so nothing that’s like, $800.00 lol.

Heya everyone! Been a minute since I’ve posted but I’m due an update.

My birthday was the 19th, and family had gotten together to donate some coral funds. So I ordered from a local small business I’ve been down with Covid since right before my birthday, so it kinda bummed me out not getting to go anywhere. However, I’m extremely happy with what I had gotten from Carolina Kids Coral. Basically I told him how much I had to spend and he told me what he could do. Aj didn’t disappoint. I got two favias, another rock flower nem and a small group of zoas, Utter Chaos and LA Lakers.

The box was delivered this morning and they were acclimated for about 30 mins or so via drip. Of course the photos don’t really look that great, I still don’t have a filter for the phone camera. But all four are amazing in person.

My green rock nem wasn’t too happy where the new one set up home, but I’m hopeful it’ll stop being so rude lol.

Sorry I’ve been so inactive, I’ve been so busy with stuff lately. I babysit my grandson while my daughter works so that leaves me very little time to do what i need to.

My reef has cyano still/ again and it ended up killing off two of the new corals. It gets worse with waterchanges. I think what I want to do is tear the tank down, scrub the rock and go with a new scape. I can’t seem to get the flow going the way it should to prevent the cyano from growing on the sub.

I feel I need more sand and more rock but my funds are lacking. Im the only one with an income between Hubbs and I and it’s only what the kiddo pays me for babysitting. (Which isn’t much)

I want to make some black light paintings but I have no idea what to paint that would be worth selling. I have the paints and I have canvas. I just do not know what to do. (Open for ideas!)

Currently the tank is in a blackout period. This is day three. I’ll turn the lights on slowly tomorrow. No pics right now, it’s too depressing to show.
