Good morning everyone!! Today is sale day and I hope you guys are ready to have an awesome time!!!
Lets start the day off right!
In your opinion what makes a LFS successful? Is it having a wide variety of livestock? Clean tanks? A wide variety of dry goods? Let me know what you look for when you walk into your LFS!

People. Feedback and engagement as necessary. I purchased a fish from LRO when I first started my reef tank a few years ago. The lady I spoke to advised against a fish I was totally set on but was unaware it was not reef safe. The conversation she had with me was her gathering details to better help me. Won’t forget that one.

To me it is a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Product comes and goes, but someone willing to listen and answer my questions no matter how silly is the one that gets my business.
For me an LFS that I can trust, not to just sell me product, but to thrive off honest education/success of their customers. Too many out there just wanting a sale.
Larger selection is great, but health is more important. Need to know I’m getting healthy product. Good quarantine process, or selection of vendors goes a long ways for this.
Clean stores are great, but anyone with a successful tank knows things happen that cause a little messiness.
I want unique stuff too, whether it’s fish or new innovation. Everyone likes to look at new things.
Lastly I just want to feel like I’m walking into a place of friends. It’s welcoming, they know my name etc.

I like an LFS that is honest about what you can put in your tank with you other inhabitants. Some people don't do enough research and depend on the professionals at the LFS to inform them correctly. I have seen it several times that the LFS much rather just sale a fish and risk it may die or come back to the store. Same with corals. A wide variety of corals is also a plus!!
A combo of all the above, clean tanks, healthy livestock, and knowledgeable staff who help inform customers and don't just push sales

Hello there!! Long time no see!
Clean tanks and knowledgeable people. I had a post recently about that. It says a lot about how the place runs if they can keep up the up keep.
Cleanliness of the tanks. Health of the corals. No visible aptasia or pests.

What makes a LFS successful? Knowledgeable staff who are available and honest. A good quarantine procedure and a variety of healthy livestock. I can get pretty much any dry goods online and shipped to my door fast.

I look for both customer service and quality of tanks and livestock! I am always looking to build a relationship with the staff at my lfs who knows my tank very well and can help guide me on my reefing journey. If a tank looks bad In stores I will walk out without purchase or if the staff has a bad, uptight attitude. This is an expensive hobby for a store to have bad upkeep and bad staff!

All the things mentioned are great for customers but for a lfs to be successful i think the main thing is to have a display tank that customers want to mimic. There's a few around here with decent stock and prices but I keep going back to the one that has a gorgeous display tank with colonies and big fish. It gives me an idea of what this orvthat frag will become. I can copy the placement for light and flow. I can see how they place and keep and actual healthy reef and get a visual guide as well as verbal. Hearing what to do is one thing but to see it...that's what keeps me going back to a store

A wide variety of livestock is nice, but I prefer seeing the organizational efforts and cleanliness of the LFS. Knowing that they care and take pride in the business makes me more comfortable. Above that, having knowledgeable staff is huge for me! Seeing people who just love the hobby and care so much about every critter, creature, nook and cranny sets me at ease and makes the entire process more enjoyable. I need to be able to see the pride in their efforts so that I can trust the quality of the livestock I'll be bringing into my home. It's also nice when you have questions and the employees know their stuff and aren't clueless lol

Quality, variety of goods and livestock.
Attention to detail is also important like displays, dry goods, and tanks. Being informative and knowledgeable for customers but also giving them the space needed to shop around and not pushing a product. I believe great things produce great results and sell themselves.
