I'd like to see a real video about lighting and how to set it up correctly. Specifically, the Aqua Illuination HD Prime lights, but I think all LED lighting set ups would benefit from this. I only recently found out that just downloading someone else's set up or going the Easy Route may produce disasterous results. For instance, the UV lighting in Easy setup is set at 60%...ALL THE TIME! I also just found out about setting up alternating waves of lighting (RB/V/B) vs. (CW/DR/G/UV). Would have been nice to find a video about this a long time ago...before I killed so many frags.

There was an episode of South Park where everything they did, someone said “the Simpsons did it”. I have a feeling that it could turn in to “BRS did it”. But I think it’d be cool to go to well-known reefers homes and interview them and look at their set ups.

I would love to see anything and everything on seahorses! My other project is breeding and raising harlequin shrimp, so any help with that would be great too!

  • Reefing on a budget
    • What's considered budget?
    • Useful DIY
  • Aquascaping
  • Nano vs. larger sized tanks
  • Sumpless / skimmerless tanks, viable?
  • A mentor type series similar to one I've seen posted here
    • Select a lucky individual and do a start to "finish" walkthrough of setting up a reef, showcasing problems, successes, and anything else
  • Non-aquarium equipment that's useful (e.g., turkey baster, eggcrate)

I would like more info about new tank progression. I always see people posting really clean new tanks, and then hear about algae being normal for new tanks.

I would like to see detailed videos on specific species of fish. I would love to know more about the fish we purchase, where they come from, and how best to care for them. Although I have a reef tank it was saltwater fish (specifically the panther grouper) that brought me into the hobby.

Another cool video series would be visiting and showcasing the places our creatures are collected.

Would love to hear more about parameters for optimal Coral, and difference opinions on growth vs color and how to achieve them.

Or something along lines of myth busters for reefing. Lots of options and wrongful info in this hobby.

I would love to see videos of different Reef systems, methods used, parameters, lighting, and chronological progress over a period of time, where all the videos discuss the same topics regarding the systems and follow the system over the same time period. For example, all the videos show progression of a tank for X amount of time. Through comparison, these videos would give us a better understanding of what type of tank we want to keep, how to maintain it, and the expected outcome over a period of time.

Videos are great and you could cover so many topics but I would love to see Q and A sessions. Those are great and the questions can lead into a ton of other topics.

Here are my ideas:

1. Natural reef ecosystems (fish, coral, conditions, etc.)

2. Show case member tanks (maybe connected to Reef Tank 365).

3. Fully automated systems.

4. How to built an reef tank with limited budget.

5. Fish diseases ID.

6. Most common mistakes/flaws that lead to crashes and how to prevent them.

How about a discussion of medical issues related to the hobby? Palytoxin comes to mind but also bristleworms, fish bites, skin infections by Mycobacteria and Vibrio species among others, etc. It could be a video regarding best practices and preventive measures for hobbyists.

a) themes tanks (besides the classic anemone), tanks that only have a few species of corals
b) why controller threads degenerate so quickly, might as well be the comment section of news site
c) Triton's rise + fall

I’m sure this has been said, but tips and tricks on anything! I’ve seen some great things on different videos etc.... but a quick tip segment would be super helpful for both experienced and beginners. This will also result in further discoveries!

Maybe a series called "How many Tangs can that tank hold?", where you measure tank volume by tangs that can go into the tank.

You could do a show walk around video where you ask people how many easter eggs they've noticed on the new r2r site (Just noticed the back ground moves...)

Hey Reef2Reefers!! So we've been kicking around the idea of starting a video series where we discuss different reef topics hosted by Rev himself!

We've got some really cool ideas already brewing on this. This could be anything from interviews with industry experts, topic discussions, the SKY'S THE LIMIT! ...who knows...maybe we'll even see Rev's 400g tank in there at some point (He has a build thread he sometimes visits...) or even Leroy, the R2R mascot!

...but we're wondering...

What are some things you guys would like to see us talk about? Give us some topic ideas!

And, what should we call it?
Something along the line of the 52 Week with BRS but for a smaller tank like a 32gallon or something that is geared more for beginners including product comparison and get into more things like algae and identification and compatible fish and suggested fish and coral for a smaller tank. Everything seems to focus on the larger tanks instead of giving some love to the smaller tanks that are just a bit bigger than the Nannos.
