"Many uneducated fans fail to see contributions that don't end up on the score sheet"

 There you go with things only you can see. Maybe you should be coaching hockey. You obviously have some "gift".

I have been watching playoff hockey for years. I have seen Lemieux and Jagr win the cup.

"Detroit's 4th line is better that the Pen's 2nd line!"
I surprised you didn't say 1st since you know at least 25 other players that are better than Sid. Give it a rest.

That's because there is more to hockey than stats. Yzerman didn't put up 100 points in a season in the last 13 years of his career. He won 3 cups in that time. When he was putting up the numbers that Crosby only dreams of hitting he won zero cups. Maybe you should stick to football.
You gotta love how you pick and choose what stats to use and ignore. If the stats go in your favor you use them, If they don't you go back to the cup...

The funny thing is I am a huge Red Wings fan. Steve Yzerman is one of my favorite players of all time. I root for the Wings all the time except when they play the Pens. Although after schminksbro I may never be able to root for them again...

I actually like the Pens as well I am just trash talking a bit in anticipation of a possible rematch of last years finals. (which Detroit dominated, lol) I remember vividly watching Mario win back to back cups. He was the greatest player ever. I have always been a Scotty Bowman fan also and he was in the organization when they won it. However like the rest of the fan base outside of Pittsburgh I do not like Crosby. A big part of that is because the way that Gary Bettman's NHL has marketed him. The rest is the way he carries himself like like a spoiled little twit who doesn't understand why they haven't annointed him champion. It's also the mystery calls he gets. Just like Michael Jordan his game is played under a different set of rules. He is a talented kid and he has played with heart this year. I will give him that. However he isn't the best player in the league by a pretty good stretch and he isn't going to win the cup this year either. Although Bettman dreams about it every night.

I thought the Canes carried the play for most of the game but they don't have a lot of finishers. The Wings do. It's kinda funny to watch your power play. After the Crosby/Malkin line they play in their own zone. I wouldn't say the Pens are all that deep at all. After a performance like they put on last night the Wings would have walked away with the win. The Wings will make you pay for all the odd man rushes. Oh and that was a nice blatant knee on knee that put Cole out of the game. Funny how Pen's fans were all crying about Ovechkin's hit on Gonchar. I really hope you guys make it through this series. I have my doubts but if by some chance you do it will be fun to watch the strongest franchise in hockey teach a lesson.:confident:

And Pens win. Shows you how balanced our team is....NO? I thought that was a good thing? Your not saying it's ok for the Wings and not the Pens are you?

They showed the replay a ton of times and I didn't see blatant. I have not heard anyone else but you say that so far. hmmmmm OV's hit on Gonchar had a lot to do with a pattern with him. Gonchar was the straw that broke the camels back with me so to speak. There always comes a time when the teacher becomes the pupil.

Yeah but that time is not now. One of the things that makes the Redwings the strongest franchise in hockey is that they continue to bring in young talent and then have hall of fame guys to teach them. If your a young talented defenceman who better to learn from than Chelios, Lidstrom, or Rafalski. If your a young forward who better to learn from that Yzerman, Shanahan, Hull, Robitaille, Draper, Maltby, or Holmstrom. Now we have the next generation with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Hossa, ect... The Captain of the Pens is a 4th year snot nose. The Wing's Captain is a 4 time cup winning, perenial Norris trophy winning, gold medal winner who has won more playoff games than Crosby has played in. Do you really believe that the current Pens team is going to dethrone the most dominant franchise of the last 20 years? If the Canes shut down Crosby what do you think the Wings will do to him? The Wings are a patient, poised, very deep, well coached, and very disciplined team of champions with home ice advantage. Let me put it terms that a Pittsburgh resident can understand. The Penguins are the Buffalo Bills of hockey.

There always comes a time when the teacher becomes the pupil.

Game 1, a little premature to say shut him down with 1 assists and 2 shots on goal. Oh wait, I'm sure that you can see into the hockey future also...Man you are GOOD! We need to get in touch with the Wings front office, they have got to get you a job on the coaching staff or at least marketing/PR dept......

With that being said, I agree that if someone says OV should be suspended then Cooke should also. The hits although different circumstances were similiar to the point that you can't call one a certain way and one another way.

You don't have to be a hockey coach to state the obvious. None of the remaining teams are going to beat the Wings in a 7 game series. You are just caught up the Gary Bettman hype about Crosby/Malkin. The love affair that Vs has with Crosby. It's just marketing. It doesn't make it real. The Wings will have the match-ups they want due to home ice advantage. Letang and Gonchar will try to get cute by jumping in the play and the Wings will pick them apart. The Redwings are the highest scoring team in the league with the best defence left in the playoffs. You don't have to be psychic to know what that means.
