My team is the Red Wings and they won their series. I wasn't so much whining about the refs as I was pointing out how poorly the games in all of the series have been officiated.

man i though philly wined about the refs

I agree with the non calls as well. A player can skate near another player and it is interference yet another player can have a guy down in the slot cross-checking him repeatedly and no call even though the ref and a linesman broke it up.

My problem with the games was the opposite. They were not calling penalties when the should have. What was also troubling was that it didn't favor one team or the other. I saw obvious penalties on both sides and nothing from the refs not even a warning. Not sure what non-calls on both sides would accomplish.

Yes I relish the chance to watch the Wings demonstrate veteran poise to that little yapper again.:xd:
That was a good game. Hopefully we'll be on a collision course with Detroit again. :xd:

I wouldn't be so confident just yet, the wings barely escaped with their lives last night :xd:

The Wings were playing a Stanley Cup team with a bluline unmatched anywhere in the NHL and depth upfront. The Pens went 7 games against a one line team. The Wings know how to win the cup. They do it all the time. This Pens team hasn't proven anything yet. Carolina will give them all they want. I predict the Wings will take out Chicago in 5. That being said, anything can happen in hockey. You have to make it to the finals in reasonably good health. If for example Malkin, Crosby, or Gonchar went down in game one against Carolina the Pens would be in bad shape. It is a war of attrition. Given both teams are healthy the Wings or the Ducks for that matter are way deeper than the Pens. Personally I think Chicago is a better match-up with Pittsburg. The battle of the kids.

Ahhhh I knew you would put your RED wing colored glasses back on sooner or later.

"the Wings or the Ducks for that matter are way deeper than the Pens"

Maybe you better check facts before you come to conclusions based on your opinion. As we have seen, is wrong all to often lately. Check this link out and filter out for Playoff stats for the Pens and the Wings. They are identical except for the fact that our top 3 have more points than yours.

One other major difference if I might add is compare Sids stats against Pavel's. I know I know the intangibles...but with sports it's all about what have you done for me lately and with Pavel....not so much. :xd:

Pav has been snakebitten lately I will give you that. However he has been playing against MUCH higher competition. How many Prongers or Niedermayers have the Pens faced so far? Not to mention the Wings played 5 games without automatic hall of famer Brian Rifalski (who is back) and the best faceoff center and penalty killer in the league, Kris Draper (4 rings). I couldn't have dreamed of a better final four for the Wings! They smoked the Pens with little resistance last year and they added Hossa this year. Don't kid yourself. The Redwings are not Washington. Players like Lidstrom have spent the last 19 years neutralizing players like Crosby on his way to 4 Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe, and a gold medal. Why do you think Hossa defected and took less money than he was offered elsewhere to come here? Because the Wings know how to win the cup. They have proven it. I counted 4 guys on the Pens roster who have won a cup. The wings have 5 players who have won 4 cups and a whole roster who have won at least one. Nick Lidstrom has played 225 playoff games. Crosby has played in 328 total games at the NHL level. lol Experience counts in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Call is what you want, but if he is as good as you say he is (in a different class), he should be producing in the playoffs....period. Maybe he is saving it for the finals....

Your wings have played #7 Blue Jackets and #8 Ducks
Pens have played #5 Flyers and #2 Caps

Your statement is just nonsense... Who knows, if the Pens would win the cup, I may become delusional also.

This is a prime example of why Detroit is HOCKEYTOWN and Pittsburgh is football town.
Obviously you haven't watched much playoff hockey nor do you know what is going on in the league. Anaheim won the cup in 1997 with much the same lineup as they have today. They struggled with injuries during the regular season which cost them points. They entered the playoffs and easily knocked off the #1 seed in the west. The west is superior to the east. Frankly I think the Ducks, the Sharks, the Blackhawks or the Redwings would all handle the Pens. The regular season and the playoffs are completely different. Notice how many #1 seeds are left? Goal scorers have droughts. Fortunately Datsyuk brings much more than goals to his game. Being a Crosby fan you may not understand what a complete player is. Datsyuk is the best 2 way player in the game hands down. Hockey is a team sport. You don't win cups with a one line team. Time and time again young skilled but inexperienced teams fall to veteran teams with skill AND experience. The Wings DOMINATED the Pens in the finals last year. The Pens are not as good this year as they were last year. The Wings are better this year than they were last year. Hossa put up a ton of points in the playoffs last year. Not so many so far this year. Ice time may very well be a factor. The Wings spread out the ice time. We don't have one line that plays 30 minutes a game. Fortunately the Wings are a team with depth. When one player drops off another steps up. None of the Wing's top scorers scored today yet they handled Chicago easily while holding Kane to ZERO shots. Mark my words, The Redwings will repeat and win the Stanley Cup for the 5th time in 12 years.

Now that's funny.

"Fortunately Datsyuk brings much more than goals to his game." I hope so because he is not doing much.

"Being a Crosby fan you may not understand what a complete player is."
He has been scoring goals (the most) dishing out assists and in the process leading the league in total points for the playoffs. He has also been playing great defensively. Besides putting on the pads, there is not much else he can do. He is definitely doing more the Pavel is during these playoffs.

"We don't have one line that plays 30 minutes a game."
uhh neither do the Pens. Everyone else on the team has been producing and the main reason we are doing so well.

There will be no repeat of last years finals. The Pens are a different team. A better team.

Yeah,,,,OK:rolleyes:.....We will see. Pens fans thought the same last year but in the end Detroit wiped them out. I will say that at least they won 2 games. Once they make it to the finals the Wings usually sweep.
Either you haven't watched any of the Wing's games or you don't know what you are watching because Datsyuk has been awsome. Oh and Franzen is only 3 points behind Crosby and 4 points better +/-. Until last year he was merely considered a roll player. Frankly I hope the Pens manage to get by Carolina because the Wings will have a much easier time with them. They have the weakest goalie left in the playoffs. As a matter of fact they have the only goalie who hasn't won a cup. For a guy who has been playing against one line teams his GAA is pretty pathetic. Either the team's defence is poor or he is. I think it's both. Either way Detroit will light him up like Times Square. Defence wins championships though and I don't see any Nick Lidstroms on the Pen's roster.

Uhhh, that would be Khabibulin,he is with save % and GAA. I'm sure you will say it's Fleury because of some intangible that only you can see.....:snicker:

How many cups has Fleury won? Khabibulin has done it. Fleury...Not so much. Until his name is on the cup he is just another regular season sissy boy who choked when it mattered most. Besides Khabibulin is getting ready to take a quick exit. The last 2 goalies that the Wings dismissed were better than Fleury as well. They're golfing right now.

You gotta love how you pick and choose what stats to use and ignore. If the stats go in your favor you use them, If they don't you go back to the cup...

I am not surprised by your response. Many uneducated fans fail to see contributions that don't end up on the score sheet. The funny thing is that the Wings are winning in spite of Datsyuk's lack of scoring. The Pens are relying on Malkin and Crosby to carry them to the cup. How is it that you think they have any hope of beating the Wings in a 7 game series? lol Detroit's 4th line is better that the Pen's 2nd line! lol If the Pens manage to get to the finals (and that's a BIG if) they will have ZERO chance of going any further. Just like last year the Wings will have odd man rush after odd man rush. They will limit Crosby and Malkin and shut down everybody else. They will skate right by the pylon which is Hal Gill and trap Gonchar down low time after time. Is this your first year watching playoff hockey?

Datsyuk has been awsome.
