I added a medium toadstool leather on Tuesday and it’s doing well except I can’t get it to stay stood up. It’s quite able to as when the polyps are withdrawn it stands fine. It was stood strongly in the shop.

It leans to one side as if the top is too heavy. I just directed more flow at it and it stood up briefly and then leaned away from the flow so I moved the flow and it’s gone back to leaning towards the flow again.

In the shop I think the flow was above the tank but it’s just from one side in my tank. Do I need to add a little wavemaker? Otherwise it’s really full and healthy

There's no wavemaker in the tank, only the return? IMO yes you should add a small powerhead

Flow is not only better for your corals but also important for overall tank health, it means less dead flow spots. More flow keep detritus and 'stuff' in flowing the water so it can be filtered out (instead of just sinking and landing in a dead flow spot).

Mine stood up straight for the first couple years. Then it appeared to get top heavy. At night, when it shrinks back up a bit, it stands a bit more straight. But everyday when the lights come on, it swells up and leans. Doesn’t seem to bother it much leaning into the sand, another rock, and into my front glass. They are pretty hardy. I imagine they will eventually right themselves and grow towards the light more. We shall see though.

My tank is very small. 52 litres and I upgraded the return pump to a sicce 0.5 which is 700l ph. So it’s a split nozzle with that return pump.

My big one on the left does that when I mess with it, it usually perks back up in about a week. The one on the right closes up at night and leans also.

Still the same. Droops all day but the minute the lights are going off it stands up straight. I’m being trolled by a toadstool coral
