Bryopsis is a genus of green macroalgae with many of its relatives being popular, ornamental species, such as Caulerpa, Chlorodesmis, Codium, Halimeda, Penicillus, Rhipocephalus, and Udotea (and some not so desirable algae, such as Green hair algae (Derbesia)) though I assume your mention of “macroalgae” refers to its desirable members instead.

Additionally, I have read that several people enjoy the iridescence some Bryopsis may take on and let the algae grow in macroalgae setups (same goes with Bubble algae (Valonia), which is also sold on eBay).

Admittedly though, Bryopsis is not ideal for most marine aquarium systems, though do note that the seller in the eBay link does acknowledge this problem in the product description.

Its in macro classification. Its a nuisance when its unwanted or undesired but can with a root system pull nitrates and inorganics from a tank

I just feel it’s kind of a big risk, I just spent months trying to get this stuff out of my tank, I’m actually still trying lol

The challenge with getting rid of this stuff is the roots
If you remove it and leave ANY roots, it Will return
Use a dental pick or small crochet needle to remove roots and discard and add chitons, emerald crab or pitho crab to help maintain control thereafter

Someone gave me a free sample of "dragon's breath" algae when I ordered some Chaeto from them. It was red bubble algae. Impossible to get rid of that stuff.
