GAME REMINDER
CRYSTAL BALL

title gif.gif

Twelve years is a long time, but I wonder what the future holds! We shall see! For this game, I will post a sequence of numbers every hour, on the hour. The first person to figure out the pattern and predict the next number in the sequence gets a point. After ten rounds, the person with the most points wins a MYSTERY FRAG!!!

In the event of a tie, the person that scored first wins. Good luck!

For the mystery frag (never done one of these before) is there typically an option of things you don't want in the case that you don't have a suitable tank?

Why is shipping so high with these sales, cause I see 34.99, 39.99, 50.00, 29.00, the 34.99 and 29.99 and if the coral prices are good I can see 39.99 but some sales charge high shipping and high coral prices

The vendor pretty much loses money on the actual shipping cost most of the time. What makes them decide what makes sense as far as price would be their business model I suppose.

Here’s a little more insight than what Billy said. The physical box your corals are shipped in typically costs $10-20 depending on how large it is. If you live close then the actual shipping is cheaper, but most people don’t live close, so we will go with that. Your overnight shipping typically runs $50-300, depending on the weight of the box. The reality is that the shipping box fee to the customer is just something to make online sales feasible. I would imagine that if the vendors stopped charging a fee altogether then at least half of the companies wouldn’t engage in online sales, especially the vendors that are primarily reselling as opposed to farming.

Let’s say you spend $200 on corals, then your shipping box probably costs the vendor about $80. Just for sake of numbers, let’s say the vendor is selling for a 50% profit margin, which has built into it that margin the cost of equipment, upkeep, coral death, marketing, IT costs, reef2reef sponsorship, etc. At that point, the cost to ship to you is taking about half of net, and that’s before the vendor even pays themselves for their time and labor. Without some type of relief from the shipping costs, it’s really not worth a lot of the vendor’s time to sell online. Shipping used to be cheaper, but with the way gas prices have risen the last couple years, it’s a wonder that shipping costs to the customer haven’t increased as well.
