I know you all think i'm a total idiot, but i just thought i'd update and say the nitrite and ammonia have finally dropped this week and are nearly gone.

Haven't lost a fish for a week now, was so worried about the regal tang who for a whole day was sat on the bottom looking at deaths door just as the levels dropped a tiny bit, she hadn't eaten for 3 weeks and her skin was a terrible state... she looked exactly how the others did just hours before they died, come next day she was off the ground but hiding amongst the rocks, we weren't getting our hopes up though, she'd began to develop red patches like how blood vessels burst inside.

2 days later and she very nervously came out of the rocks almost as if she thought something outside had hurt her and she was wary, she got her bearings over the course of the day and come dinner time she ate, was such a proud moment and now shes almost back to her old self, hoovering any food she can get hold of!

The other fish look great, only the lawnmower blenny is still misserable but nor poorely...the remaining yellow tank developed a huge wound to its side probably infection after losing the protective film, but now the wound looks clean and healthy and is beginning to heal, so its looking good at the moment.

All our fingers and toes are crossed that the tank is finally on the mend, we were given some liverock that been in a friends tank fro 5 years so very mature, only had a few pieces as not much room for more, but it should help a bit.

Just Ich to sort out now, just the regal and the chromis that have it, but we bought a monster UV steriliser today, it could run a koi pond, so hopefully that will reduce Ich numbers a bit and help us keep on top of it :)

We're building a quarantine tank after xmas you'll be happy to hear, to get ready for when we decide to restock.

I really hope this nightmare is over, but if The regal and blenny survives then at least not all hope will be lost as they are most important right now!

The UV sterlizer isn't going to cure ich nor will it prevent new fish from getting it... So, QT all you want, there's still a good chance the new fish will get sick once they're in your display.

I'm not looking for the UV to cure Ich, but it can only help, so to me is worth having especially at half price!

Of course a fish can get sick still even having been through quarantine, i've got enough animals to know that, but the best you can do is take measures or else you wouldn't get anywhere fearing that every fish you get is gonna get ill or die.

how big is your tank? you mentioned a lot of ich prone fish that needs tons of swimming room, i hope its over 220 or you will always have problems no matter what the water quality.

149 gallons according to the calc, the only Ich prone fish i have now are the Regal tang and the Yellow tang, the other 8 fish have never had a single spot or mark on them in the two years i've owned them all, i hear large scaled fish aren't as prone to it, which except for the tangs and eel, they all are.

But in my eyes you're not taking the correct measures to get rid of it. It's in your display, we know it's there and unless you do something to remove and treat the current fish it's going to continue to be there.

I have had SW and FW aquariums for a very long time.

The best thing I have found for Ich is to just keep the
fish healthy. Feed them well, and keep stresses low.

Most of us underfeed and over stock,
I tend to feed more and stock less.
That keeps the fish far more healthy.

You learned a lesson the hard way, but you did
learn from it, And you wont make that mistake again.

We All have done dumb things ,don't let it get you down.

Keep learning and reading.

Thank you :)

We certainly did learn from it and are currently in the process of buying a tank to set up as a quarantine tank!
