Can you show me a tank on this board

That does not stunt the growth of a blue tang?

Remember, they get 12 -14 inches in diameter in nature

I know of one, do you?

300 gallons will definitely still stunt the growth of blue and yellow tanks

Same with a 450

Do you think a tang will get the size of a basketball in a 300?

I don't, never seen it

300, stunted

380, stunted

400, stunted

Just one, besides Polo Reef

You are right - keep Hippos out of reefs :)

Big difference between coming very close to providing the proper habitat and not even trying for selfish reasons.

To each their own, I guess. I just think she should do better, lest we give more ammunition to groups which want to take our ability to keep fish away.

I know I'm right

I just come to a different conclusion than the Tang Police

To some of the readers, what I write must seem as disrespectful, ill informed, self righteous, and condescending as what the Tang Police write

I assure you, I am none of those things

The nanny commies need no reason to turn off your fish supply. They did it without any evidence for Hawaii(Indo too). I was on hiatus when this occurred, and missed out on all the defense and evidence the reefer community put up to keep yellow tangs in tiny tanks

Aside,
I just saw a video of Biota breeding and rearing facilities, the Tang Police would have coniptions if they saw how small the Biota tanks are ("Oh, but that's different")

Have you seen the Biota tangs when they send them out?

Those are odd.
What is odd about @Biota_Marine yellow tangs?

They come in small, but I prefer that so I can enjoy their entire life span. We had a tank with 3 at an LFS I worked at, one was old and wild caught, 2 captive breds - they all looked and acted the exact same.

He's wearing a cop hat?

Those are odd.

I'm going to get a school of them for the Elos tank when it's up

Face shape looking off, has an extra fin coming off his gill plate? Should be culled but they won’t cull it because of the crazy metallic stripes on the face and will instead sell it as designer for 10x mark up.

Maybe it’s half angelfish

Must just be the juvenile morph

Skeletal, odd shaped

Mine looks like a yellow tang now after a month or so. Never had a baby yellow tang before, /shrug

Should be fine for now but i do wonder how many people that say this will actually rehome the fish after a year.
Like I said in a previous response, why wouldn’t I… firstly a full-grown tang would look inhumane in this tank let alone feel inhumane to the fish. Secondly, I clearly care about it if I’m making a post..
I think I would worry more about the number of people who don’t make inquisitive post and who do still keep fish inhumane size tanks.

You're not getting a full size tang

In any tank you are able to buy

As has been stated, a small tank will stunt the size of the fish. And by small, I mean from 60 gallons to 600 gallons.

A full size blue or yellow tang is 12 inches round.

There are like 10 or 20 people here on this forum who have tank that can boast that. No one in this thread has a tank big enough to get a full size blue tang

But don't listen to me, my moral compass has a bent needle. I must confess, I keep dead fish in my pantry, that I paid people to kill intentionally, and bring to me—that's literally evil

I already ended up getting a Whitetail bristle tooth instead because I know on average they get a bit smaller and know I would have more luck with that at least that’s what I’ve seen…your thoughts?

Much better choice. Smart man!

Let’s see a pic of the little beaut.

I’ll send you a picture when he gets in! I took the blue tang back last week and put in the order at my Lfs…was 250 so about average…I like to support the local guy. He’s pretty cool….reefchasers is local also to me and had one but has been in quarantine for a bit but they wanted way to much imo. I think 329.
