Is Caulerpa a good replacement for nori sheets?

I’ve never fed my bristletooth tang any nori or vege sheets because he regularly munches on my caulerpa prolifera (non-toxic kind of caulerpa), is my macroalgae enough for his herbivorous needs or should I still give him some algae sheets a few times a week?

I’d still throw algae sheets in but live macroalgae is absolutely the best as it has the nutrients they won’t get from nori sheets.

If the tang looks fat and happy I would not worry. I have a white tail Bristletooth tang and it completely ignores the nori on a clip I put into the tank every day for my yellow tang and wrasses.
Thank you! I’ll keep him on his fresh macro then :)

if you have a tang that loves culerpa and eat it like candy you are lucky.

I have yet to see any of the tangs i own touch that.
And Culerpa grows like weed next to chaeto, so its like a unlimited salad buffet for your tang.

That's funny, most tangs go nuts for it, as do large angels. I can add a full 1 lb of Caulerpa racemosa from my refugium into the 240 gallon FOWLR and between the sohal, vlamingii, clown, Hippo, chocolate, and goldrim tangs, and the maculosus, caribbean blue, and French angels it's gone in minutes.

They'll eat Caulerpa mexicana, Caulerpa taxifolia, Caulerpa prolifera, Codium, and red Gracillaria as well, but I don't produce as much of those since those are in the seahorse tank, not in a big nutrient filled fowlr refugium. They even ate the piece of Halimeda I tried in there.

That's funny, most tangs go nuts for it,

When i had a powder blue, and yellows, they would completely ignore it.
They rather munch on everything else but Caulerpa.

But this was a long time ago, before the ban on Caulerpa.
Now is illegal to get it in cali in almost any sp. and most sellers won't even sell you the ones that aren't banned, because its still Caulerpa.

But my Tangs have always been funny.
Even now i have a tomini, and you'd think it would go after Nori.
No, it rather go after the algae waffers you give to plecos and plays soccer with my foxface.
