In case I missed anyone (it’s easy for me to get lost in these conversations as I listen to them using a screen reader), thank you for replying and all the valuable information.

This is severe, yes and the chances of it getting better might be slim but honestly it's nice to meet someone so well spoken and wanting to embrace the situation it's very refreshing to me.In case I missed anyone (it’s easy for me to get lost in these conversations as I listen to them using a screen reader), thank you for replying and all the valuable information.
Thank you! The writing…well, it’s difficult but I’m getting better. Again, being a visual person, I have always checked myself before I wrecked myself just scanning over what I typed as I typed it. That’s all out the window now and I’m caught between my old creature habits of typing and now attempting dictation. What my brain thinks, and my mouth spews out, is often nowhere near the same. Plus if you’re a bit off, as I, and talk to yourself….that adds to the puzzle. Autocorrect is the bane of my existence when typing, as if I don’t listen to what I’ve typed, it can be complete nonsense. Let’s be honest, even if I do listen to it, it could be complete nonsense! Listening to everything in a monotonous computer voice is dreadful. Although, they have come a long way recently and I have taken a liking to the new female British and Australian voices. Life is crazy! I won’t lie, I battled a severe bout of depression when this all first came about. To be honest, it’s still there but I’m managing it. I do try though. This is a hobby that’s been with me for thirty years or so. It’s muscle memory and I can’t let it go just yet. Although, if something were to happen where I had a crash or livestock wipeout, I would not be starting over due to my current state. I do care for these animals, and feel badly when things go awry. I’m doing the best I can though. This is severe, yes and the chances of it getting better might be slim but honestly it's nice to meet someone so well spoken and wanting to embrace the situation it's very refreshing to me.
Your posts are so well written and it's nice to see you've done your research and actually care.
Keep doing what you're doing and keep us updated on the tangs condition.
Life is an amazing thing you just never know.
Best of luck.
Joel
That is my current course of action. I started feeding tlf sea veggies (green and purple) as well as frozen lrs reef frenzy soaked in vita chem and selcon as soon as this condition was brought to my attention a little while back, assuming it was Hlle. I am totally to blame for it going unnoticed for so long, but I am severely visually impaired so I have a slight excuse. However, I still feel horrible about it. These guys depend on me for everything and I failed. I posted up here for verification as I was finally able to get a picture (the fish all hide when people get close to the tank….I don’t know why, I don’t yell at them or anything! Plus it’s usually with a peace offering of tasty food). In the last month I have read absolutely everything I could in regards to hlle. It would appear that most everything has been ruled out as wives tales (stray voltage, vitamin c deficiency, etc.) and that soft (lignite) carbon is the most common causation. Also, noted that diet will most likely not heal this condition and such as the case with my tang, the scarring may be permanent. I was worried about a secondary infection as my readings had mentioned that as happening in severe cases. As no one mentioned placing the tang in antibiotic treatment I will assume it hasn’t progressed to that point yet and that removing the mulm and continuing vitamin soaked food will hopefully nurse this guy back to reasonable health. Thank you for the reply.
Thank you…I’m certainly hoping he heals and continues a long and healthy life. I’m getting all set up to drain the sump to remove the mulm, which leads to equipment maintenance while I’m there, and a refilling with new salt water. That’s a big day for me. We’ll see what kind of calamity ensues…..Tang will likely be scarred but can heal and live a normal life. I don’t see any signs of infection and it has good weight.
Your tank is beautiful and it’s easy to tell that you take fabulous care of it. I am sure many wish they had a tank like it.
I have not sent in an ICP as of late. I had tried it a couple times years ago and wasn’t very impressed. Well, I shouldn’t say that. It was pretty neat but on the other hand does one really need to add molybdenum, rubidium, and strontium? Of course I thought so as they were all marked as deficient. I’ll think about sending one in for fun but I’m fairly certain it’s decent. Otherwise I’d be having issues with other livestock. I’m fairly confident this was carbon related, with a species that is known to be sensitive. When I did ICP years ago I still had vision. I’m pretty positive that the data isn’t accessible for screen readers as they can’t read graphs, charts, and have a real problem with columns and rows. Maybe they have a synopsis page aside from all the data. That, or I could have someone go over it. Now, I’m curious and will log into my triton account if I can remember how.I would also try the original Miracle Mud. They claim it can reverse HLLE. I am in the poor water quality camp. When I say that I mean, just because you tests are good, there may be some elements missing in your water. Have you done an ICP test in your tank the last six months? I am trying out Miracle Mud myself, but it has only been a month.
