Just finished a thorough water change. Scrubbed all the algae with a toothbrush and basted for a while. The water column was filthy! After my water change I used filter floss to manually clean it. Everything looks super clean now! Corals are slowly opening. I see some algae that I missed and or grow back.

To help increase nitrates, I have put my protein skimmer on a 4 hour cylce (4 on 4 off) we will see what happens..

My one cardinal is scaring me a little. Eats like a goddam machine but after water change hides in the corner and every once in a while I find him just hiding above my power head and or under my glass cleaner. I hope he doesn't have an illness :( no signs of ich or any body issues. Poop looks okay.

I need to get another fish! Any thoughts? I want to get another flame but I am nervous. The next fish is a "prize" fish. The oooh ahh fish of the tank.

What about a Helfrichi, or a Flasher/Mystery Wrasse?
Planning on both in my 30L
I'm considering a carpenters flasher or some sort of fairy wrasse in mine. Seems like the perfect fish for the tank size.

So the wise words of QT are becoming quite real. I'm going to have to set up a tank and or use my frag tank for observations..

I lost one of my Cardinals :( also one cerith snail I wasn't around to flip back over.

I did however fully convert my DT over to Apex junior. My lights are now ran from Neptune as well as my heater and skimmer!! I'll post pictures tomorrow as I was very tired after wire management.

It is a hard lesson to learn. QT really is the best way to minimize losses in this hobby. It's a huge pain but worth it.

A little update!

Replaced both the cardinals & goby. All three are very healthy! Well my goby managed to jump into the back chamber somehow.. probably while the lid was off and I was in the bathroom cleaning something.

Corals are all opening up! Here are some pictures... need to figure out how to take better ones.

Howdy,

I don't have any full tank pictures at this time but felt it's been a second since I've done an update. I find myself at work right now without a computer because my boss took mine as his wasn't working so what better time haha.

My tank is doing OUTSTANDING I've managed to control my nitrates but switching to biweekly water changes. This keeps my nitrates about 2/3.

I have an auto feeder which feeds in the morning and I feed mysis at night.

My clown fish are all super healthy now after feeding medicated mysis.

I've been quarantining two new fish for this tank. A orchid Dottyback and a lawnmower blenny. They're at about 3 weeks now and will be out of copper Friday and into just second dosage of general cure for external worms. This has been my focus lately hence why no major updates. This has been a huge learning curve for me. I've lost several fish in QT as I've had a lot to learn. After these fish are entered into my DT I'll be fragging my current corals.

Half pint sleeps in the wildest positions lol

I guess the most major change ive gone through is an automatic salt water making center. I got a 55 gallon drum for 15 dollars and couldn't resist. It housed vegetable oil before so I soaked in vinegar for a while and rinsed hundred of times. It has a smell still but holds 0 TDS water !

I added a jebao dcp 4000 which allows me to use a 30 foot vinyl to never have to carry buckets to my tanks again!!
